Expectations are that "Ashasx" loses it every time Sven is not being played in a top 6 role and is not out on the PP.

With the elite talent we're putting out there this coming season, anything short of a cup would be a total wash.

I want 2 (or more) first round picks in 2014.

• I would like the Flames to keep hoarding 1st and 2nd round picks. For this year or next.

• I would like to see the Flames management continue to hunt for hidden gems and low-risk projects around the league.

• I would like to see Glencross tear it up so he can be traded for a 1st.

• I would like to see Stajan, Stempniak, Cammalleri tear it up so a couple of them can be traded for a 2nd (I know Cammy might get a first, but I'll play it safe).

• I would like to see Backlund become one of the leaders of this team. I was hoping he would get an A.

• I would like to see all our young guys get a really good shot on the big team, in the position they are meant to play in (ie, not stuck on the 4th line if they are skilled guys). Even if it means losses or stunting veterans.

• I would like to see Sven give a fair shot on the 1st line for at least 5 games.

• I would like to see Reto Berra get a chance on the big club at some point if he's showing positive signs in the AHL.

I expect them to skate hard and hit everything that moves.

I'm also expecting a serious drubbing at the hands of the Capitals on Thursday. Like a baaaaad beating. I think they'll improve after game one though.

I'm just looking forward to them spoiling the Caps' home opener on Thursday.

I expect them to finish bottom 5 and hopefully dead last. I expect a lot of struggles and "tough" games to watch.

I hope that they stay true to the rebuild course and move some of the dead weight/extra players (which we have a ton of right now.)

Hopefully guys like Brodie, Baertschi, Monahan (if he stays) are able to step up and become the focus and core of the team. Hopefully Giordano is able to bounce back and be not only a great leader and mentor but a legit top pairing guy he showed at times prior to the last two seasons.

Don't have much hope for the goalies we have but hope that at the very least we able to get a good enough read to know what we have or don't have going forward to make decisions/assessments on that sooner than later.

Hope to see Burke take a huge role in with the team pushing Feaster farther and farther away from any hockey decision making position and that the team is far enough along in the rebuild to can Hartley and get a decent coach in to lead the team going forward.

The pinnacle is the Cup. There should be no other expectation heading into the season. Once the teams get a lay of the land you can adjust your expectations but every now and again an underdog establishes itself in a league and right now the Flames have no pressure. Go out, play as a team, win and lose as a team and try to win that trophy that every team plays for. Every team in the league starts at 0 points, anything can happen so a defeatist attitude would be the wrong impression to leave on the kids of the team. I loved Feasters interview and how he backed Franklin down, he believes in this team as much as Chicago believes in theirs and I think that is endearing.

I know logic speaks against that, that it speaks to a green Flames team that has about as much chance winning at this level as the prima donna teams we iced the past few seasons but I don't think this team has the sense of entitlement it had once garnered from that one run and I think because of that its going to be a fresh feeling in the locker room. It only takes 5 or 6 games to get on a good role and the Flames play the harder part of there schedule really early with a 2 game, 4 game and 5 game road trip strewn amongst the first 17 games. Put together a great record in the first 5th of the season and it could turn into something that no one would expect.

I'm approaching this season how I approach the Hitmen. I'll go to the games and wear my jersey and cheer for the team etc. but if they lose, it's not going to ruin my day. Just going to go along for the ride and whatever happens happens.

This is my 13/14 wish list

- a tougher team than last year
- at least 25 wins
- Feaster/Hartley gone by Christmas
- Mcgrattan plays all 82
- The Heat have a good season with a long playoff run
- Close to 500 at home

I expect
- us to lose more than win
- multiple CP meltdowns especially in the first and last two months related to this.
- the team to give icetime to prospects as learning opportunities, not just because they beat the veteran for the spot.
- the team will be better before trade deadline than after it, and our prospects will look better at the end of the year than at the beginning.
- to watch less hockey than usual, but I also expect to enjoy the games I watch much more than in the last couple of seasons.
- us to have more than our share of picks at the draft.
- to have a better grasp on what the teams future is going to be like next summer.
