Can't happen now; as today was the last day for MacDonald to clear waivers before tomorrows deadline for setting opening day rosters.
MacDonald will definitely be one of the goalies to start the season.

Cammalleri is now listed as being on the IR too.

Hartley will try to give Ramo more starts in the beginning of the season to see how he plays in the NHL. I would rather have Reto Berra playing more in Abbotsford. Having MacDonald as a backup is a good insurance for the Flames. MacDonald knows his role is being a backup goaltender this season.

I believe in the Pony Power
|
Berra needs to play to adjust to the NA game. Starts are the key. So he should be in the AHL

#1 Goaltender
|
I like the idea of having macdonald as the backup to ramo. My opinion with goaltenders is that most if them perform better when the organization shows confidence in them. Macdonald is a career backup who knows his role and is good as a support goalie. Ramo won't feel the pressure every night to start the season that macdonald is going to take over as the #1 goalie. If Berra is the backup however, I would worry that both goalies could suffer from feeling that they are going to lose the #1 spot to the other guy after one bad period.

Sieloff gone, Cammalleri on IR and Jones, Smith and Street waiting to be re-assigned brings the roster size to 24 with 3 goalies. Still lots of room to change for Thursday, but looks like they might be pretty close to the opening night roster now. Breen is still up.

Breen is interesting, it's too bad he's been injured all training camp. Anyone know if he's practising with the team now?

“@GlobalParker: #Flames will make final cuts tomorrow, then we will hear from President of Hockey Operations Brian Burke for the first time since hiring.”
“@DarrenHaynes_CP: There will be sunny skies tomorrow as Flames brass head to the podium for some season kick-off pressers. Burke at 11:45 am, Feaster at 1 pm.”

Might sound weird but I want to hear more from Burke. And I'm very curious to what he has to say tomorrow. Since his hiring till now, he must have had a sit down with all the prospects... Seen them play and met with all the scouting staff- John Wesbroid to reevaluate the prospects and the direction of the team.

It'll be an interesting day tomorrow, should nicely cap off the silly season. Then, let the dark ages commence.

I wonder if that means they're going to try and package Liles with a pick to get rid of him

I've never heard of Ryan Stanton. D-man, looks like he has a bit of offense in his game. Anyone seen him play before?
