I'm just concerned that if they make the west bound on ramp from Macleod S into a yield where it previously had its own lane that it is going to seriously fark over the traffic flow leaving Macleod.

I can't wait to see two rv's side by side doing 80km/h over the 22x bridge.

Is it just my bad luck or is the Stoney -> Paigan WB -> 52nd issue (short lights for WB Paigan plus lane setup) really causing a problem on 17th Ave SE WB at 52nd now. I seem to see lots more trucks turning left at 17th Ave SE, lined up past the Husky taking 3-4 lights to get to 52nd SB..

That's poor communication between the province/contractor and the city. 72 more hours and all will be well.

Is the $75k a day much of a deterrent as far as these things go? I mean it sounds like a lot of money, but is that penalty about what's expected in the industry or light/stiff?

$75k per day is $525,000 a week, it adds up very quickly. It sounds about in line with what it "should" be to me.

This is too bad. I was hoping to at least be able to take the mainline tomorrow to avoid deerfoot. The on/off-ramps are still a couple of weeks away at least.

It's only a couple of ramps. By my count, 23/27 bridge structures are good or have traffic on them already, and I'd estimate that 98% of paving is done. I emailed both AB Trans and the contractor last week... the audit is the concern right now.

They are delaying the opening? What a joke. Just a few weeks ago they were bragging about how they would be complete by Oct 1st. Traffic was absolutely horrendous this morning. 1hr and 15min for me to get from Chaparral to Wrangler Industrial park.

If it gets delayed just over 30 years, then it will be free!

It's not so much the penalty as it is they can't claim that the project was done on schedule. That hurts their ability to win other bids.

I dunno if they really bragged, they presented a very optimistic timeline in the home stretch to AB Trans that they hoped to meet, and in terms of the actual construction, they damn near did.

The new EB-NB flyover at Deerfoot/22X is now open, the long sweeping ramp that goes over 2 bridges. Even if the main route is delayed, this ramp opening is a massive step forward and will save a lot of congestion in the morning rush.

Would have been cool to have signage. I drove by the ramp and saw they had blocked off the lights forcing me down to 52nd. The light at 52nd for people coming off 22x is 10 seconds long so there was a massive line up.
