There is no reason for Jackman to be on this team. He should be put on waivers before most guys

My bet he will be sent down, Flames are likely looking for a different dman...

Jackman and Butler should be next on the chopping block. Hoping anyways.

Maybe the Flames knew Liles would be waived and are putting in a claim?

I think he will play in Calgary to see how he is doing, if he is struggling a bit then he goes down....if he shows he can handle the bigtime then that allows Feaster to look into dealing one of Butler/Smith/etc.

I wouldn't have a problem with B. Jones, Smith or Street being picked up on waivers. It would give some prospects better ice-time. Saying that I don't think any of them will get claimed.

Street is now firmly planted in the career AHLer category. Smith is a decent depth defenseman but with Ramage, Breen, Wotherspoon and Sieloff this will most likely be his last season with the Flames organization. The best that B. Jones can hope for is the occasional call-up.

Agreed about waiving Jackman, he really provides nothing that we don't already have in abundance. No idea why he was brought back, and hopefully that mistake is corrected. No one is going to claim him sadly, and he could probably come back when Monahan goes back to junior or if anyone gets injured.

down to 3 goalies, 8 D-men and 15 forwards; Feaster said he wanted 2, 7 and 14 respectively

With Breen and Cammy hurt and possibly on IR, they only need to send Berra down tomorrow to complete the roster. Clear it's Berra otherwise Mac would be on waivers today

Monahan and Sieloff have made the team, at least until the two injured guys are back

If he's still up when the season starts he'll most likely get at least a bit of game action. I also think for the short term like a couple weeks or so that for a young guy like him being up with the big club can be just as good for him as getting minutes in the AHL.

“@SUNGilbertson: #Flames coach Bob Hartley sounds much less optimistic today that LW Michael Cammalleri (hand) will be ready for Thursday's season-opener.”

That's too bad, but no need to rush him. When he's ready we need him 100% so he lights it up and inflates his deadline value!

I would personally file a claim for Jeff Schultz. It would be an expiring contract, which you could likely flip at the deadline for a 3rd or something. Just waive Butler or SOB and you're good to go.

Colby Robak also might be of interest, but I don't know if we'd have room on the NHL squad for him having so many D-men as it is.

I would rather have Brodie, Gio, Wideman, Russell, Schultz, Robak and SOB as the 7 D-men than having Butler in there.

I'm glad that neither Breen nor Bouma ended up on waivers, as both of them are IMHO important part of our future.

Lots of different possibilities

1) Flames aren't planning on demoting smith right away but wanted to waive him now to have that option in the future.

2) They plan on playing Sieloff

3) They plan on getting another D. Liles is an example. Though I find it odd they would waste their waiver pickup rather than included him in the Colborne trade.

A lot of projects have hit the waiver wire today and I say pass on all of them, I'm a bit surprised there was only 3 flames on the wire.

It's possible that one of Butler / SOB gets the healthy scratch.
Giordano - Brodie
Wideman - Russell
SOB - Sieloff

Is the old claim a player at half salary still in effect? I could have sworn that was a thing.

Liles at half salary would be good.

And Emmerton, sounds like he'd be worth a shot.
