@Fan960Steinberg
@Ashasx Conditions? No conditions according to #Flames. Just a 2014 4th rounder.

Good value gamble moves like these are great. Why rush our prospects. If Monahan isn't ready... He isn't ready. ... And moving galardi to wing is much better

Not bad. Monahan almost certainly back to Ottawa now.

Don't really expect much from the kid but who knows.

Not a huge fan of this move, but it's hard to knock the "value".
I just don't see the need to make this acquisition with Roman Horak, Corban Knight and Sean Monahan chomping at the bit to prove their worth at the NHL level. In addition to that Colborne has not shown to be a direct upgrade over any of these players to this point in his career.

Personally I would have preferred to have shown a little faith in our own younger players, but its not the end of the world, and there is still the opportunity here to come out as huge winners in this trade regardless.

Don't see how this pushes Monohan out. At least for nine games. Colborne will have to earn his spot

Like it. He's big and a centre. This is the exact type of the guy the Flames should look at. His AHL point total last year would have been 2nd on the Heat.

Why are people linking Monahan and Colborne?

Does Colborne have to go through waivers to be sent down? Is Colborne an NHLer?

I could be missing something, but I don't see how this changes anything.

For now I think Monahan has made the team.

Not a big deal but from looking at his career stats he seems to still be eligable for the calder?

Monahan has a great pre-season and camp, and likely gets the short straw because Colborne can't be sent down.

I don't like that.

Apart from Monohan those guys are all far from sure things. This is another bullet in the chamber

Explain why that is a certainly as opposed to a massive assumption

Colborne is either in the NHL or goes on waivers. So yes, he will most definitely be in the NHL.

No, Colborne isn't a punishing forward. If he was this would be a steal, but he doesn't use his size at all.

Now Colborne is also only 23 so he's not done developing and hopefully he can learn to use his size to his advantage (which would make this a great trade) but until he does he's closer to a tweener for 2nd and 3rd line, not ready for second line duties, not physical enough for bottom 6 duties. Not a terrible pickup for a 4th round pick though considering he does have the size, does have the hands and is a good skater. If he puts it all together he could be a true NHL player, which you need to be extremely lucky to get in the 4th round.

And I imagine that if the condition is met to make it a 3rd round pick, we'll be happy anyways.

Glad Liles wasn't involved in the trade

It's Monahan, Jorge.

He'd have to go through waivers. So there's a risk involved I guess.

He can be, but has to clear waivers first. Which he wouldn't IMO.
