I wouldn't make the bet myself, but I wouldn't call anyone stupid for putting $10 on the Flames winning the division. The likelihood is low for sure, but the potential windfall is amazing.

The bad: You're out $10 and you will have to consume one less heroin beer at the dome.
The good: You win $3000.

Seems like a pretty good bet to me.

This shows my level of expertise in gambling (0), but how does one even make a bet? Can you do it online?

That has to be a typo. They're 34-1 to win the division on the site I use, and 150-1 to win the Cup.
I'll make the Cup bet, 'cause I always do, but not the division bet.

On Bodog, the over/under is 73.5...that is if I'm reading that right.

I would buy Glencross and Cammalleri and sell Hudler and Baertschi

Does a team like Calgary have a better chance of winning their division or the cup? (We debated this the other night and decided that a longshot has a better chance in the playoffs than winning a division.)

73 points is about five games under .500.

Go under on the Jets. Easy money - they will be eaten up in the West.

Calgary will go over.

yup I'm pretty sure that's a typo. On Bodog the Flames to win the division is 30/1.

bet365 i saw the best one! 40/1!

I keeping comparing our roster with Florida's, and I think theirs is a lot worse.

Florida is much worse, Buffalo is absolutely terrible.

I also have a sneaky feeling that Montreal will be exposed in a full season and go back to their 2011-12 ways. That team is so small and has no depth at all.

The real bet is, will the Flames finish ahead of the Oilers?

I think the rosters are pretty comparable, and if anything Florida's is better.

Their goaltending is more experienced and probably going to be more reliable - huge advantage for them.

Defensively:

Campbell ~ Giordano
Jovanovski < Wideman
Gudbranson ~ Brodie
Kulikov/Weaver > Butler/O'Brien

Their forwards are about a wash too, IMO. Centres are just as bad as the Flames.

Maybe I'm missing it but where does one make a bet? I doubt anyone is dumb enough to offer those odds because every site I've checked doesn't come close to those odds.
