Default Odds on the Flames winning their division and point totals

Pacific Division

Vancouver Canucks 7/2
Los Angeles Kings 9/5
San Jose Sharks 3/1
Anaheim Ducks 9/2
Edmonton Oilers 7/1
Phoenix Coyotes 7/1
Calgary Flames 300/1

Not a surprise they are long odds, but that is HUGE

I think there is some real value in betting the over on their point total though

Chicago Blackhawks 111.5
Pittsburgh Penguins 110.5
Boston Bruins 105.5
Los Angeles Kings 104.5
St. Louis Blues 103.5
New York Rangers 103.5
San Jose Sharks 101.5
Vancouver Canucks 100.5
Detroit Red Wings 99.5
Anaheim Ducks 97
Ottawa Senators 97
Minnesota Wild 96.5
Toronto Maple Leafs 95.5
Philadelphia Flyers 95
Montreal Canadiens 94.5
Washington Capitals 92.5
New York Islanders 91.5
Phoenix Coyotes 90.5
Edmonton Oilers 90.5
Columbus Blue Jackets 88.5
Dallas Stars 87.5
Nashville Predators 84
Winnipeg Jets 83.5
Tampa Bay Lightning 83.5
New Jersey Devils 83
Carolina Hurricanes 82.5
Colorado Avalanche 81.5
Buffalo Sabres 76.5
Florida Panthers 71
Calgary Flames 63.5

Based on the level of competition and effort in this preseason alone, not to mention the team dynamic that is being developed, I'll take that bet all day long on the point total. The Flames will probably be bottom 5, but they will surprise many people this year.

I'm going to call Vegas and put $100 on the over right now.

yup....they could very well finish dead last in the nhl, and i still think they would surpass 63 pts.

How does that over/under payout work? Do you win more if they get 83 than if they get 73 or is it just a 2:1 payout?

Damn I'm going to put $100 on them winning the division. Those odds are great.

Even betting $1 on this team is a waste of a buck. 2 NHL centers ? 2 goalies who have never played in North America?

Some of you are deluded if you think this team will win the division.

I think you might be diluted if you think that the Flames will have two goalies who have never played in North America. You might be deluded as well!

300-1 odds of winning the division is huge but I still view it as a wasted bet. Just no realistic way the Flames can beat out every one of the teams in their new division.

The over/under number is surprising and attractive though. Might have to put a few on that one.

Forgot the Ramo did a stint with the lightning. But the point still remains, Going into the season with 2 Goalies that have so little nhl experience is bizarre. 300 to 1 is crazy odds.

Just a straight up even money bet.

If you wager 100 dollars and they surpass 63 pts, you collect 200.

Joey MacDonald has a little bit of NA experience as well.

it depends on the odds (may be a bit more or less than 2/1)

but it's just a straight win/loss, no extra if they go 20 points over or under vs what you bet

I would take the over 63 all day long...I was looking for the per player bets. Gonna take the over on Stajan they probably have him listed at 25 points

Saying betting on the Flames at 300-1 is a bad bet makes you look extremely silly. It's such a good value bet that it's probably much longer than 300-1 odds that it's not a mistake or misprint, so nobody will ever be able to make that bet. The longest odds on the worst team winning the cup is usually 150-1. On Bodog right now the Flames are 100-1 to win the cup and 30-1 to win their division.

Teams that finished with less then 63 points since the lockout:

05/06:STL-57,PIT-58
06/07:PHI-56
07/08:none
08/09:NYI-61
09/10:EDM-62
10/11:EDM-62
11/12:none
12/13:FLA(ON PACE)-61.5

Even if you think the Flames will finish last, beating 63 points is a good bet.

You don't see a sub 63 point team every season, and the points of the last place team looks to be trending up a little since the sub 60 point teams of the first couple of seasons post lockout.

Havent seen anything for Stajan but have seen the following...

Cammalleri 53.5
Hudler 48.5
Glencross 44.5 (easy money IMO)
Stempniak 44.5
Baertschi 41.5
