I get what you are saying, but to me the commitment from a time and money point of view for hockey is more than I am willing to take on.......
Even at the low end of the ticket spectrum, I'd rather sit at home and watch the game on HD......

I was looking at tickets for the Flames-Oilers game in November and was surprised to see that nosebleeds were $65. Yikes. I thought $50 was bad last season. I'll be going to less games this season unless I can find some better deals for tickets on CP.

This feels just like 1997. The team is flat - veterans are bygones - there might be a star in the bunch - but that won't be known for years - as in 5 to 7 years. If history repeats itself, there will be rows of seats available in a year or two at much lower prices. It ain't cool to be seen at the Dome anymore .... and sooner or later ticket prices will reflect that fact.

Bleeds are $52. I bought some today. Face value for my blacks are $38.

If the cheapest car on the market in NA in 2013 were $5,100 that would be a steal

Sooo - people complain that the lower bowl is full of corporate suits and no real fans - now tickets in the lower bowl are available but no one wants to put up the money? Shocking.

Yeah, it's the hottest ticket in town and yeah- the Flames are going to make sure you know that. There's good business and then there's flirting with greed, but obviously just my opinion.
Honestly shocked they jacked prices after the total horse-#### that has been the last 3 years of floating and half lockout millionaire pout-fests.

While I agree that the Flames ownership did themselves no favours in delaying the inevitable the fact that fans are not renewing seasons tickets is essentially proving that ownership was right in thinking that the fans of this city cannot be counted on to stick around during rough times.

I would jump at them if they are renewable. I was on the wait-list for 3 years before being offered tickets. I would watch this forum to see how many people got season tickets each and every year and tried to estimate when I would finally be offered tickets. When the day came, I was jumping for joy. Really glad I took the plunge. It wasn't long ago when it was nearly impossible to buy tickets. They would go on sell on Ticketmaster and be sold out immediately. Any classified ads were at face value+. It was hard as a casual fan to buy tickets. That being said, it's obviously easier now. However, there will come a day where the Flames are competitive again and we have a new arena. Try to buy tickets then. To me, being a season ticket holder gives me the optionality to attend the games that I want to see, sell the games I can't attend, and gives me a seat in the new arena. Will I give these tickets up? Perhaps, if I can't sell my unused games at the STH price, that may be the time as there would likely be no wait list then. The thing that will hold me longer is that I'm hoping to upgrade my seats with each seat relocation. I've managed to move from the upper corner whites to center ice whites due to the churn of seats. Now I just need to move down a few rows over the next couple of years which I would assume that I'll be able to do. If I gave up my seats now and try to get season tickets when the Flames are better, I'll likely be stuck in the upper corners for awhile.
Win or lose, we're there for the game day experience. I attend with my 12 year old and we're building memories with each game that we attend. He enjoys it. I enjoy it. That's enough.

The corners are the best place to sit.

$5100 per seat when the team has no top end talent is a pretty tough sell...the fact that they dropped 14M in salary and raised ticket prices also rubs me the wrong way

That is where my whites are. Flames attack zone, right where the price break drops you in to good rows. Had row 23 in the next section before a major upgrade just the other side of the aisle. Row 10 now. Not epic, but solid.

I understand that, and am not sure why i put the price in there, had been at the Knights game and had a few, lol. The waiting list for anything more than a single for the Knights is a few years.

OKOTOKS DAWGS. 200$ Season ticket. Less than the cost of 1 lower bowl Flames ticket. Just Sayin bang for your buck, that's the best you can do.
Freeway says the corners are the best. He is right. Orange rocks!
Also 590$ for the Hitmen, and 290$ for the Roughnecks look pretty temting.

Sorry. I'm not dissing the upper corners. Just the pricing for the Whites that I took when I was offered tickets. I was top row 24 just a half dozen seats from the Greens. If I moved over the half dozen seats, I am sure that I would have the same positive comments and be a few dollars richer.

It really seems like the savvy thing to do would have been to call it a rebuild, acklowledge the lower salaries and offer a one year discount of 20% to returning season ticket holders to make sure they kept their base, and kept up the appearance that tickets are scarce.

I think lowering prices during the rebuild is probably the last thing on their minds, given how there were no playoff revenues since 2009 and likely won't be for another few seasons. Although it would be funny/sad if flames tickets ever started showing up in groupons.

But let's not forget that not 100% of that money will go to the Flames, thanks to the NHL and their blasted revenue sharing some that money and a percentage of any merchandising sold will have to go back into the NHL so teams that are in non-hockey cities can lose money year on year and not worry about it coz they know that safty net is there!! I think the whole revenue sharing system is BS, when I pay for a jersey or any other merchandise I would 100% of my money to go to the Flames, not to some team I couldn't care less about!!
