Not a fan of Calgary text, but if they are keeping it Red they didn't have much choice. Third Jersey's are a cash grab and doing a slight adjusment on the retro reds, with flaming C, would not have produced much in the way of sales.
Like you said, they will probably introduce a new 3rd jersey in 3 years. Won't be surprised to see an adjusted retro red jersey come out then and be able to have way more sales with it being out of circulation for 3 years.

Will wait to see it before I judge.
Actually like Colorado's third jerseys with the word mark. Rangers, Penguins, also were decent historically.
Diagonal Wordmark (ie. Colorado, Rangers): Alright to good
Horizontal with Number (ie. Dallas) : Very Bad
Horizontal with Logo(ie. Vancouver): Very Bad

Are you aware of it the type of lettering? More Dallas? Or more Minnesota?

I expect an ugly piece of crap with piping, a lame word mark on the front, and about six flag patches on each shoulder. Anything better will be a pleasant surprise.

The Jersey will be god awful, and I expect the Flames faithful to go out and buy one. I think the current jersey sucks, and always sucked, but I see many wear that eyesore at the Dome.

If it's similar to the Wild then I'm all for it, those are beauties. I love baseball so I'm not totally opposed to that sort of idea. If it looks like Dallas, the Islanders 3rds, or those old Atlanta Thrashers 3rds, then count me out. Regardless of what it looks like, I will be buying one. Ugly or not, it's a part of Flames history and I will gladly add it to my current collection.

I keep thinking this new third is going to be closely tied with the fire department.
If the lettering and the logo resemble FD fonts it would look pretty sweet.
EDIT: A quick Google search provided this photo, not sure if official but would make a Flames Jersey very nice indeed if they were going for something like this.
Even More Editing: Turns out that's the FDs pipe band colouration. Oh well. I'll leave it up anyways.
