Default Bill Daly Feature

Thought some people may find this story on Daly interesting. Seems like a pretty widely respected guy, and almost certain to be the next commissioner.

Really respect this guy. League is in good hands after Gary retires.

I have to imagine he'll be the guy in charge for the next go at CBA talks.

I can see him being much more popular than Bettman for sure. Seems like a really awesome guy who is really knowledgeable.

Timing of this article is interesting. With Bud Selig's in 2014 just announced, I wonder if Gary Bettman is being considered for the MLB Commisioner job.

Seems unlikely. Bettman is getting up there and I don't recall him having any ties to MLB. All of the speculated successors for Selig are people currently within MLB, either with the league or team executives.

Bettman won't retire until after the 2017 season at the earliest.

He's stated he wants to be around for the NHL's 100th anniversary.

Good job the CBA has been sorted out or we could have been looking at celebrating the 100th anniversary with a lockout!!

Yes - pretty sure the insistence on a 10 year agreement had some bearing in that.

Lots of Daly love in this thread (I'm a fan of his as well).

Can't wait until he's the whipping boy the day he becomes commissioner.
