The Hockey News and EA both have St. Louis winning the cup, but I'm not sold on them. They're good, but I can't see them winning the cup.

Well they have the Oilers making the playoffs, so immediately they have no credibility.

EA NHL is made in Vancouver. Take from that what you will.

Hah, that's funny. Carolina is going to surprise this year, they will be in the mix for a final playoff spot.

And Florida has Thomas now who will steal games for them.

We don't have the offense or goaltending these teams do.

It's a simulation, not a "prediction"

Sim a season 10 times and you will have drastic changes in the standings most of the time

In my first NHL '13 Be a Legend, I chose Jeremy Roenick. Naturally, they started me on the first line with Tanguay and Iginla since in NHL '13, Roenick is rated higher at 88 than any other player on the Flames roster. In my first five games, I scored about nineteen points, earning myself a first career goal in my first game, and a first career hat-trick in the third game. Multi-point games, awesome plus/minus, flawless positioning, and first star of every game I played in.

After the fifth game, as it was simming the calendar to game #6, I get a message from the coach that I'm being moved down to the second line and that I need to work harder and prove myself to be moved back to the first line. I'm the league leader in everything that matters, never mind team leader. It took nearly twenty games for the damn game to put me back on the first line. Oh, and I had about seventy points by then.

So hopefully that gives you some insight into how much stock I put into EA's simulations.

I cant' see Carolina or Florida being lower than us. The panthers just signed Thomas and love him or hate him, he's a good goalie. Carolina is just too stacked and I think did crappy last year because of injuries, give them a chance and they'll probably surprise most this year

They must be using a different sim engine than what is in NHL 14. I can sim the entire season without changing a single roster player and make the playoffs soundly every time.

They don't have any teams being really horrible - everybody in the 70s. I think that is probably pretty accurate.

I don't think that either Winnipeg, Colorado or Carolina will be in the running for last though - I think Buffalo, Florida and Calgary have to be the early favorites.

Wow, you can get into the playoffs with 89 points? Not if Phoenix goes into overtime every game. I don't buy it

I think the Jets are much worse than people realize. They were propped-up in a weak Eastern Conference last year. Now they will be exposed in the West.
