It's far more curable than a weak glove though. As far as going down early like Karlsson, Berra can move, compensate for it whereas Karlsson was a block of granite once he went down. Should make it a point of contention. Berra is a better goalie than Karlsson by a healthy stretch IMO.
Butler needs to go. Still. Russell is a better option. Obrien needs to be the seventh do man. No reason he should pluck a roster spot from one of the kids. At least they can grow and adapt. Would much rather Ramage in there.
Not worried about Sven, he'll be alright. Just needs a little time to get rolling. Although he gottossed around like a kid a few times tonight. Still needs some mass.
Monahan isn't going anywhere. Not before nine games for sure. Not super pumped on him yet but he's shown he can hold his own. At this point I see going to to Ottawa as a regression for his game. He's a top six center of the future, won't be tomorrow but his growth will only happen in Calgary of that I am certain. Pretty darned mature out there.

Disagree. I thought Ramo was much more reliable and let in fewer weak goals. Ramo earned the job IMO, although it wasn't a great competition or anything.
Berra made some big saves but also let in some weak ones. He needs time in the AHL to adapt to the North American game and get some coaching. Not saying he won't come back up at some point, but for now that's the best situation.

Sven needs to play without the fear of receiving another concussion. He's missing some finish to his overall game.
Brodie - Stajan - Bouma = great tonight. Russel again surprised me...
Berra needs more games in the AHL to play against players born and raised on the North American ice surface.
Bouma with 4 preseason goals? Damn. Good for him. Glad he's around and going to make the team.
Also, after watching all 4 preseason games I'm not convinced this team is "good" but I don't think we are bad (in rebuild terms)... I do hope we pick Top 3

Don't forget that both Cammalleri and Hudler were out, and they add a lot of skill to this team. I feel like we will be a bottom 10 team, but we could fall anywhere in that group depending on how well the kids play and what kind of goaltending we get.
Should be an interesting year to say the least.

Oh I didn't forget about Cammy and Hudler. Our defense is what it is tonight. These 6 plus D Smith will be the ones starting and if sieloff can push for a spot then we might be a tad worse on the back end (totally factoring in experiance and not potential)... Also agree fully on being a bottom 10 team and where we fall all depends what our goal tending does.

They both outplayed Mac by a fair margin. However, Ramo had a stinker of a game in Edmonton and was probably as good as he gets against the Rangers and he wasn't spectacular. Berra looked very good against the Oilers in the game Ramo stunk in, and was good again tonight. The goals he gave up were a tip shot from 10 feet in front of him, those either hit you or go in, a slapper from between the circles from OEL who's got a very good shot and placed it perfectly in the corner, and a screened point shot that looked like it went off the post and in. The OT goal was not a great goal to let in, but the rest of the game he was very solid and kept them in the game when the Yotes were really pressing.
If I was making the call, I'd have Ramo and Berra as the 1A 1B goalie and waive Joey Mac to the farm and have the two alternate, with the goalie who wins stays in net the next game and you keep playing until you lose. I believe Ramo is very close to being a final product, but I think Berra has quite a bit of upside with him as some of his weaknesses are fixable.

Feaster just talked about Monahan, Sieloff and the goalie situation. Nothing interesting.

He also added a Vince Lombardi quote, or it might have been the quote from the last Rocky movie.LOL

Ramo > Berra > MacDonald
Ramo was terrible in the 1st game, but I think he has proven he's the #1 guy for now.

He followed that with a "its not how hard you get knocked down, its what you do when you get back up" or something like that.

David Jones - not sure why he's getting some hate. He's exactly the type of player this team has been missing for years. He's not going to wow you with fancy dangles, but when he keeps it simple and just crashes the net, he's highly effective. He was in Smith's grill all night long. Flames have plenty of guys like Tanguay and no one like Jones, this was a good trade off.
Ben Street - played great, I haven't seen him in the other games, but if he's played like that every nite, he should be on the team. A bit small, but very versatile, still able to win battles despite his size. I'd rather have him up than Reinhart and Ferland, both of whom could use some seasoning in the AHL. It comes down to Street vs Horak and Knight as far as i'm concerned. Knight has the size but he could also use some seasoning in the AHL. Horak looked good to me in the NHL games I saw, tough call between him and Street.

Biggest takeaway from the game is that Berra has some work to do on his blocker/stick side. 2 goals there he had to have, and got beat in the same place on both.

I'm pretty sure he meant the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
If you're familiar with the quote, how can you not understand what he meant?

Baertschi will not going to improve playing in the AHL anymore. He needs to play in the NHL. Right now I think he is lacking confidence. Afraid to make mistake instead of just playing. Part of it was the media and fans in Calgary's expectation on him. A lot are thinking he will be the next face of Calgary Flames. The guy hasn't played a full season in Calgary and usually young guys even a skilled one had a hard time adapting to NHL right away. Steve Stamkos was not that great on his first season but he turned out to be one of the best in the NHL. So, if Baertschi gain his confidence back, he will be a good player. Regular season hasn't started yet.

With all of his sayings, I'm beginning to think that Feaster has a nice collection of 90's "No Fear" t-shirts.

Now that Jay Bouwmeester and Blake Comeau are no longer playing for the Flames, Looks like #1-A Jackman, 1-B Butler, 3. MacDonald, 4. David Jones are going to be CP's target this season. I am sure Stajan is happy he is not even in the Top 5 of CP's most hated players this season.
