Bad goal to give up on the OT. Still, pretty good game overall.
Still think Bärtschi is being outplayed by most of the other young forwards.

Would of loved for Monahan to get the winner there.
Oh well.

Tough times for these tenders... everytime they let in a goal 20% of the board cuts them.

That game kind of represented exactly how I figure the season is going to go. Good efforts, nothing dazzling, a little bit of struggle to finish, and average goaltending.
My thoughts on a few players:
Monahan - Looked like a solid NHLer, not the fastest skater but really smooth. He's got to stay. He's ready.
Baertschi - If he develops into a top guy, I think people are going to question his play without the puck forever. He was good, but without the puck he doesn't have that much jam. Still exciting with the puck.
Berra - Not great, but I'm not convinced McDonald is better. Looked good on a few saves but a couple of those goals made him look silly (as well as a few times he was caught way too far out of the net).
Jackman - bye
D.Jones - A lot of money for a pretty average guy, but this is the first time I've really paid attention to him, so we'll see.
Didn't overly hate or love anyone's game, decent effort overall.

Berra needed to have that one. He'll have to learn how to find the shot through a crowd since that seems to be a different problem in the NHL rather than international ice. He was only temporarily screened and it was a point shot that wasn't exactly post-and-in. He had a decent game overall, but to me MacDonald is more consistent and that's what you need in a backup.
On the other hand, both Knight and Monahan should be on the opening night roster IMO. Bouma has definitely earned a spot, no doubt about that one.

Yep. I think this is the game that pushed guys like Jackman & Horak off the opening night roster.

I have not seen Baertschi this pre season, but everything I keep reading is very concerning. Obviously I won't judge until the meaningful games start, but have has he really gone from potentially being our next star player to a questionable NHL starter?

Berra seemed very nervous to me. He didn't play poorly per se, but didn't inspire confidence.

The only chance that Mac has to being claimed is with Pitt. That said it does not matter, Berra needs time with the Heat. He has a lot of work to do. He reminded me of Karlsson, he goes down to soon.

How about we wait until we play a regular season game?
Christ. The last time he played a game that counted, he was riding a 7 game point streak.
How about we wait before we give him the Iginla treatment? He has the weight of the entire fan base on his back.

People on here are ridiculously hard on the goalies. The type of goals you guys blame on the tenders are laughable.

I think Stajan has to take some of the blame on the OT goal. Either he needs to block it or get out of the way.
