I'm all for earning a spot and not just handing it out, but I don't know how you could dress some other forwards ahead of Baertschi and Monahan this year.

Because Hartley is giving him one last chance to make the team. He'll be sent down by tomorrow anyways.

Going off what you said in another thread.. I understand your concerns but good players can develop in losing environments the concern comes in after 3-4 years when it becomes normal.

You can't predict hockey.

What else do they talk about? Covered Monahan, covered the 3 headed monster, covered our D situation.. Reality is that there arent alot of positives. Get used to it.
They did say that even tho Stajan isnt gonna help produce a ton of offence, he is a charactor guy who will be good for the team in the dressing room during tough stretches.
There are some positives being spoken, youre just having trouble hearing them over the HARD truth.. That is the Flames arent good, wont be for a while.
What else should they say?

Hard to say, the 67 point season in 1997-98 is going to be tough to top.

Wasn't it Maurice who had a Carolina band of misfits play a very tenacious, positive hockey some years ago? Not sure who the coach was. We all know the odds, but you don't necessarily need the biggest, meanest lineup if you have everyone fighting for the puck all the time.

Yeah, I figured but would be nice to try and get some chemistry going with the guys who will be here.

I think you could make a case for sending Sven back to Abbotsford once Cammalleri gets back and there is zero upside of wasting a year of Monohan's ELC this year. He looks okay but I'm willing to bet by midseason Hartley will be scratching him. There's not enough quality surrounding talent and the team is going to undergo some hard times. He needs to play and dominate while he's still in his teens.

SUNRandySportak Been wondering all training camp why Monahan, Baertschi and David Jones aren't skating as a line. They are in 3rd here and had a good shift

I'm not a proponent of bringing in 18 year old players but that's my opinion. As for Sven I feel he's not right. I don't know if maybe he and Hartley don't see eye to eye but I don't think some time in the AHL would be a bad thing for him.

Nice job by Backlund cutting hard to the net, draws the penalty.

I turned free tickets to see Phoenix Coyotes vs Flames the last two seasons in a row. I also told my friend the other day that if he ever need someone to go with him to the game I will go as long as it is not the Coyotes game. I would rather pass out in my couch watching the game than start snoring at the Saddledome.

The upside is that if he's ready then you let him develop in the NHL. He's a late birth year so he turned 19 in a couple weeks, so it's not surprising he's more ready then usual here.
Now, I'm not suggesting he won't develop back in the CHL either but this risk losing a year of his ELC is way over blown on this forum.
The kid is ready.

Ribiero is like a rat. Everyone hates him, but you gotta begrudgingly respect his ability to stick around and survive. But man does he have a ratty face.
