First period stats
Russell leads all skaters in ice time, Monahan leads the forwards, with Baertschi right behind him.
First line had the most shifts, but they've been much shorter overall.

I don't think so. I want to see a game where people come away raving that Baertschi was dominant or a threat every time he was on the ice. I don't want to hear about glimpses. Reminds me way too much of the last few years where we waited for our star to show up and had to keep our hopes up based on glimpses of him looking like the player we hoped he would be.

Really hope the Flames decide to just put Jackman on a raft and push him out into the ocean. Really no need or place for him on the Flames and quite frankly, I'm sick of watching him.

Not sure I necessarily agree about Jackman, but thanked for the vivid description.

Dominating for a game is a glimpse. He's played 25 NHL games and is 20 years old, you're coming off as a bit of a lunatic.

Am I the only one thinking that declaring Monahan the biggest win of the draft is a tiny bit premature?

I think an ice flow would be more appropriate?

Whose doing that?
Saying you think he could be one of the best players (which I did with him and Lindholm prior to the draft) is a big difference between saying he is and will be now.

Dominant player? The only people expecting Baertschi to be a dominant player are some desperate Flames fans. Most league pundits project him to peak as a top-six forward once he's physically mature.

From the Senators vs Flames game thread:

The good:
Josh Jooris: was all over the ice all night, great forechecking, created chances and was very strong in keeping possession.
Sven Baertchi: If the rest of the team had any finish tonight he would have had 3-4 assists, he just kept setting up golden chances every shift. Best game of the preseason/prospect camp so far for him.
Brodie: solid as you would expect, nothing wrong with his game at all tonight.
Wotherspoon: didn't make a mistake all night from what I saw, him and Brodie were definitely the best pair out there.
The bad:
OBrien: for a very rookie defence, it's embarrassing that he was by far th biggest liability out there. Slowest man on the back end, directly at fault for 2 ga.
Berra: looked like a Henrik Karlsson clone to me, went down way too early, Ottawa just kept going high on him. Expect him to be with the Heat.
Monahan and Poirier both had average games, I was happy with Knight, and Sieloff had moments that I really liked. Big Ern had an awesome fight.
I'll try to answer questions about the other guys.

There. There is a game where I came away raving about Baertschi's play.

Come on. Lunatic? Bärtschi hasn't exactly left everything on the ice this preseason. Some people like to see prospects be forced to give their all.

I disagree, Sven has the talent and work ethic to be a star.

He has more potential then a 20 goal, 50 point second line player and when talked about by various media types they usually talk about his high end offensive game. Definitely more 1st line then 2nd line but maybe not a star first line player.

Again with the praising of Mike Smith handling the puck. Yeah he does it a lot, but it's not a good thing when you're terrible at it.

A lunatic? For expecting our supposed best young player to look like our best young player? Yeah, what a nut!
