I think it'll be tough for Sieloff to play his game with a cage on for a couple months... hard to believe he won't start in the AHL.

Surprised this is on TSN. Two pretty crappy teams not from Ontario.

They were in Edmonton last night, so it's a quick trip down the highway for their crew.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Monahan looks between Glencross and Stempniak. The Glencross-Stajan-Stempniak line has looked great so far in the preseason, and Monahan has looked dangerous with lesser line mates.

I'm looking forward to seeing baertschi at the dome for the first time this preseason. Wonder where Ben street is on the depth chart... Strange to see him on a line with baertschi and backlund for the last game of the preseason when street hasnt reallly impressed very much. Might be because that spot is meant for cammalleri and he's just filling in. Still would have rather seen someone like granlund in that spot.

Perhaps they are giving Butler or O'Brien one last chance to show that they are worthy of a bottom pairing spot. That or they plan to roll with 7 D to start the year.
Of all the stories out of camp, something you've not heard is 'how impressive Butler has been'. Given the competition, I really have to wonder if they're considering cutting bait with the guy. You'd think someone would have something nice to say about him if he was a part of the plan going forward.

Hmm.... Backlund converted to the LW. Maybe to make room for Monahan on opening night. Interesting.

Probably has more to do with the coaching staff wanting to see more of knight in his natural position.

Sounds like they've changed again during the morning skate:

Aaron Vickers@VickersFC1m
Glencross-Stajan-Stempniak
Backlund-Monahan-Jones
Baertschi-Knight-Street
Bouma-Galiardi-Jackman going as sets now.

They didn't really need to tho since Galiardi is a winger usually. Odd that they would bump Backlund to wing in favour of Galiardi, unless theyre still just trying him out at center. Or he's played far beyond expectations as a pivot (I havent seen him play yet but heard he was doing pretty well with it). Either way, I'm not sure Backlund is the guy they should be moving over.

Sportak is saying Backlund in middle. Lots of confusion here...

Yeah, strange backlund is put on the wing rather than galiardi. Nice for Monahan to be given the first line centre spot for the start of the game... Would love to see him play with Sven though... A glimpse of the future.

OK now it's obvious Hartley is just trolling us.

He should roll out Brodie as first line centre and McDonald as a defenceman during practice just for sharts and giggles.

Read an article where Hartley said he really likes Street's versatility and hockey smarts.

Perhaps evaluating Street for the extra forward spot. Probably better to put a guy like that in that position than a young guy like Horak and Knight who need to play everyday.

Makes sense. I think Horak could be a good fit on that line. He and baertschi had great chemistry in abbotsford last year.

I wonder what this means for Horak. I thought he was pretty good, but wouldn't go as far as to say he distinguished himself. Perhaps he will be starting the season on the farm.

I would think Horak, Reinhart and Knight are chasing the same roster spot.

Seems like baertschi is constantly on lines with guys that he likely won't be playing with (knight, street, etc.). Strange that he hasn't played much with backlund during preseason. Seems like baertschi's been used to give guys that are on the bubble a chance to show if they can keep up by putting them with our most skilled forward.

.@CorbanKnight will play at centre tonight. He has been on the wing all of his previous pre-season games. #CGYPHX
