He was awful at the prospect tourney though. Maybe Klefbom was bringing him down.

I thought he struggled a bit. Besides looking decent as an Oiler defensemen is relatively easy considering how they have played the last decade. He definitely needs more time.

I heard Drouin will be going back to halifax as well and that Barkov hasnt exactly been lights out either.

This makes me more and more excited about the Monahan pick.

Hey, how about that, the Oilers actually do something sensible. No point in rushing this guy, he's going to be a beast (unfortunately). Can't wait to see Sieloff and Nurse exchanging hits.

Really? I haven't really been following up on the other high picks. Other than Drouin and Barkov, how has Mackinnon, Jones, and Lindholm looked?

He had a great pre-season. Oilers doing the smart thing for once. When they drafted him i heard that they thought he would be 3-4 years away from the NHL. I am now hearing that if he continues with his progress that he could make the team next year.

Still think when all is said and done, that Nurse will be the best d-man taken in the draft. Why o why does he have to be an Oiler?

Havent read about Lindholm but Mackinnon and Jones have both supposedly looked really good.

I read somewhere that Duchene was quoted saying Mackinnon is already faster than him.

wasn't he the first d-man taken in the draft? He should be the best, time will tell obviously

Jones was the first D-man taken and there was talk that he might go 1st overall. Granted i never saw how Jones was worthy of the 1st overall pick.

I find Nurse heavily overrated. Hes a 1st round player but was picked too high do to team need.

watched him in the oilers\vancouver game and he looked like an 18 year old kid for sure. It'll be interesting to watch his development

If you've paid attention to the last number of years the Oilers are a team that obviously doesn't draft due to team need - few teams do. He was rated as a top ten pick and was taken right around where he was projected to go. No surprises there.

Don't like the oilers but nurse looks like a gamer for sure. I also think that he'll be the best defenseman out if this draft... But I think Monahan is going to be the biggest steal of the draft... Already looks better than barkov, druin, lindholm, and Jones.

Barkov has been out for precautionary reasons. Very low chance of him not being in the NHL squad as far as I'm aware, unless something new has come up.

Buffalo's two big defensemen seem to have made an impression. Huge draft for them if they get two big, skilled top-4 defensemen with top-pair potential.

Nurse is a good player, but he's not close to finished growing. Last night, for example, he was skating and his awkwardness caused him to trip and slam into the boards all by himself. He's got a little bit of bambi-syndrome happening currently. The Oilers are doing the smart thing here (surprisingly). He was a good pick and I'm sure he will make for some great battles down the road as he will be a monster out there.

The Oilers suck.
