I was almost impressed that he still uses lines like "put me in the ground" in his work. Basically, absolutely nothing about him has changed and that's why I stopped listening to him. Wouldn't miss him at all being gone altogether on the Fan.

Oh, but he likes MMA now. I guess that's a little different.
Clearly you aren't a fan of Jason Avant

In all seriousness though, Hockey Central is a massive disappointment to any listener. It's basically the same thing discussed in the morning, and what is to be discussed later in the day with Leslie and Pat. Oh, and then you get the Flames at 5.

Keep Rome on for the full three hours and broaden your sports broadcast. I love the Flames to pieces, but getting it thrown at you from 7am to 6pm is too much for my liking.

IMO this is silly as you can only talk about the same thing over and over so many times in a day.
I know this is purely anecdotal, but I have never met anyone - anyone - who likes, or can even tolerate, Jim Rome.

I know there are some posters here who like him, but I would be shocked if a poll showed anything other than a landslide to the negative.

I used to listen to Jim Rome a lot back when I worked in a cubicle and can plug in headphones and stream it from the Fan960. I haven't listened much anymore, but his schtick was something that kind of grew on me. He has some pretty funny takes, but I do admit it gets over used. Does he still do the 911 calls, and the adult alarm?

I never did like his smackoffs or takes, but there were rare occasions where they were funny. (ie. Bohica, baby! It means bend over, hear it comes again!)

Jim Rome and his loser clones ranting about everything NOT hockey is just garbage. The guys opinion about sports in general is lacking and the mere entertainment of his show makes me want to smash my truck into something. His show is terrible, pointless, has zero direction and goes on and on for hours. Ive listened to his segment, waiting to hear what others could possibly enjoy and nothing ever happens.. Infact the amount of aimless rambling he uses to fill time is laughable. His clones sound like absolute morons. I have to think, those who enjoy his show are right up there..

The Jim Rome Show to me is like Winter. I don't dislike it, I just dislike the length of it.

I highly, highly recommend getting satellite radio and getting the NHL network. It's only $4 a month or something, and it's hockey talk all day everyday. You get to hear about every team, and you hear from lots of different commentators. Some excellent content. I switch back and forth while driving between 960 and NHL network. If 960 starts to get too repetitive or they start talking about football or something I switch over to NHL network. I only switch back when I want to hear specifically about the Flames.

On the plus side, I think 960's content has improved over the summer. And sign me up for less Rome as well. I tried for years to get into that show, but I've given up.

I vote for the Tony Kornheiser show. It's fairly Washington centric, and strays away from sports a lot of the time, but it is highly entertaining.

I wouldn't mind more NFL, and even maybe some NBA, anything other than Francis, Leslie, Steinberg, etc over and over again.

Maybe the fan 960 should hire Jim Lang...?

Then don't listen to the radio non-stop from 7am to 6pm?

This change is geared towards Flames fans that may only have an opportunity to listen to the radio during the lunch hour.

Nothing was worse than having a one hour break, and having to listen to Jim Rome's incessant ramblings or the group from Toronto going on and on about a team Flames fans don't care about.

This is a welcome change, IMO.

I completely understand why you'd dislike it if you don't fit in the demographic I mentioned though. Tough to please everyone.

I used to love Rome, but once Travis Rodgers left his show, it went downhill fast. Not hard to figure out why because Rodgers started his own show and you could immediately tell that he was writing all of Rome's stuff.

Give Jay Mohr Sports a listen - it is available on iTunes as a podcast. He is hilarious and offbeat, not like Rome at all. He mixes things up and even called out Dustin Penner for being a ###### live on air during an interview a few months back.

This change is just awful. As others have mentioned, just basically starting the Afternoon show early.

I, like probably most people generally get to listen to the radio 7-8, 12-1, and 4-5. I would like a little bit of variety, Rome and even the blowhards from TO, were able to provide that.

Jim Rome is terrible. But the weekend 22 straight hours of NFL is worse. If I have any errands to run I wont even bother with the radio. Just plug in the ipod.

Tuned in to todays show for the first time.

Really making me wonder why they are bothering with this. Tried a segment with Roger Millions and he spent the whole time struggling with cell reception issues. Sounded like a hostage taker speaking through a sock. Kinda bush league.

As has been mentioned, a lot of duplication with the content that continues through the rest of the day.

Just bring us a feed of the eastern one thats simulcast on TV, even if its toronto centric, it at least gives us some exposure to other markets.

I think we should wait until the hockey season has actually started to judge it...pretty light on topics these days
