What was wrong with Rome? I understand there is a small vocal minority that don't like him but many more like his show than don't. There is only so much Flames talk you can handle in a week and this is coming from a Flames fan.
I agree that I would rather hear an hour of the Toronto guys for a different perspective but it's only a month from being full bore Leafs and Kypreos and McLean are two of the biggest bone heads in broadcasting so there's only so much you can take of them. IMO this is silly as you can only talk about the same thing over and over so many times in a day.

Agreed, why couldn't they interview Francis on the Big Show. Would prefer hockey central from Toronto. Its nice to hear some different voices and different opinions. I'm tired of hearing the same two guys all afternoon. Ryan & McLovin are great, but we don't need another hour of them.
Bring back hockey central at noon from Toronto.

Is it really a minority that dislikes Rome? I'd like to see a poll done as I feel it's the majority that wants him gone.

Sometimes it's about what shows you can sell to advertisers.
Hockey talk will always have better ratings than Jim Rome in Canada.

Rome is decent during the playoffs that is it IMO. I think they should get rid of him altogether. HC@noon from Toronto at 10 then the new flames edition at 12 with something between 11-12 would be ideal

I tuned into Rome for a segment this morning (10:30ish I believe) for the first time in years. It was one full segment about his weekend trip, and some guy Rome heard a funny song about, which he repeated over and over and over. I also heard multiple soundbites he was using 5+ years ago. I was almost impressed that he still uses lines like "put me in the ground" in his work. Basically, absolutely nothing about him has changed and that's why I stopped listening to him. Wouldn't miss him at all being gone altogether on the Fan.
Oh, but he likes MMA now. I guess that's a little different.

I thought posters were 70 to 80 % in favour of less Rome.

Well if you miss the "HC" segment at noon...you can hear it again from 1-2....and 2-3....and 3-4... etc.

It may be better if Leslie didn't host and they got perhaps a former Flames player to host it.

This basically is a segment of the Big Show. You'd think they'd at least play the HC at Noon intro music and try to stay consistent with the brand Sportsnet is trying to create around that product, but instead they just go with the usual lame add snippets about blah, blah, 140 characters at a time, etc...
All that hoopla and they really just started the afternoon show 60 minutes earlier? Yikes.

Agree. In Toronto they have Kypreos (woo hoo). It would be nice to have a former (and connected player) be on the show and share their piece. We already hear Francis talk out of his rectum twice a week already... do we really need more of that? Then 960 might have something different that what they're already doing all day.

I stopped trying to find logic in Rogers Sportsnet decisions. Some intern probably told them it would bring in better ratings, forgetting to mention that there is 10+ hours of local coverage starting at 1 pm each day.
Finding Rome on Tune In Radio App is really easy.

Most people probably tune in for 15 minutes in average afternoon, so if they talk about the Flames/Hockey all day your garanteed to get around 15 minutes of hockey stuff. I have no complaints about the saturation and have absolutely no interest in the basketball, football, and baseball stuff on Rome. It be nice if they had a weekly EPL show but thats probably too much to ask of a local station.
