Just an update on a former Heat player, Mitch Wahl was not qualified by the Flyers.

It's sad to see players with promise, bomb out.

1 goal in 15 games with Adirondack, I'm not shocked.

Just too bad, that hit by Volpatti (?) really killed his career.

Just a huge shame for this kid. Almost made the Flames out of camp that year. I was penciling him in as a 'for sure' spot for the following season. Really liked his vision.

I really like that they are going to play the same system in Abby as the Flames are. It will make the transition that much easier. Of course they will have to have minor tweaks to handle the difference in personnel but a step in the right direction. I don't understand why they didn't do this before?

They did play the same system in the past. Last year was an anomaly probably caused because of the Flames hiring a new coach and the lockout. The weird part was with Flames management passing this off as a new idea.

Perhaps this is the first time the Flames have stated which way they have to play. Just because they played similar styles in the past doesn't mean that it was planned.

This was one of the reasons Sutter wanted the Flames to have their own minor league team, so the players could be properly trained the way the Flames wanted them trained. It wasn't happenstance.

Yeah, sure plans can change like how Keenan changed systems half way through the year but the plan is to have the minor league call ups seamlessly fit in with the big team.

I seem to remember Sutter saying it was so we had control over the development of our players and having them as the key players on the team. Nothing was ever mentioned about style of play specifically that I recall anyways.

Coda Gordon has a goal and an assist after two periods of play in the WHL season opener against Morgan Klimchuk and the Regina Pats.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Klimchuk is playing tonight, although he has been held of the scoresheet to this point in the game.

That's probably a good idea.

Anyways, Swift Current wins the opener 7-2.
Coda Gordon adds another assist to finish the night 1+2 while Klimchuk was held scoreless.
