So is anyone going to Chasing Summer this weekend? I'll be keeping an eye on the weather but the lineup might be too good to pass up.

I was debating it but after Ibiza, EDC and Badlands, I don't think it's worth it. The only act playing that I haven't seen yet and would like to is Wolfgang Gartner and Krewella. I mean I'd really love to see A&B again but I don't know if I want to fork out the cash to do so. Plus the line up for SummersEnd looks much better in terms of people I want to see and haven't yet. Plus it's indoors so it'll probably go later.

If nothing comes up, I'll probably buy some tickets from kijiji.

Need to start saving for Coachella anyways.

I'm going to Chasing Summer. Kind of sucks that their appears to be only 1 stage, but that's Calgary style festivals I guess. Friday has the more electrohouse lineup, with the trance guys playing on Saturday. The weather was supposed to be good, so it should be a good time.

The Cure just got added as the third headliner for Voodoo Fest. Holy freaking cow I'm pumped.

Pretty unreal lineup for $150, plus it's on HALLOWEEN IN NEW ORLEANS!

So me and a few buddies are planning our first Coachella right now and I figured this thread would be a good place to start.

What are somethings that we need to know? How fast do tickets sell out? Are there a lot of hotel options around the festival? How expensive are average accomodations?

Really excited. Last year was EDC and this year we want something with a little more diversity.

Tickets sell out before the lineup is even announced. You will probably need to buy them the day they go on sale.

Get a shuttle pass. There are shuttles from various places around Palm Springs(and area) that will take you to the site. In my opinion this is your best option, camping in that kind of heat would be terrible. Coming home to AC and a nice shower will make the trip way more enjoyable.

I'm not sure about hotels, I imagine rates will be higher than usual, don't limit your hotel searches to Palm Springs only. Shuttles will run from most of the suburbs.

Coachella is awesome. Best festival in North America. Next year will be my 4th year going.

Tickets are on sale again in January after the lineup release. Sounds like the pre-sale wasn't too hot this year because of last years lackluster lineup, so there should be a pretty good shot at getting tickets. Weekend 1 will probably sell out within about a half hour of them going on sale....weekend 2 about 3 or 4 hours.

Hotel you should probably book now and I think they usually go for $400/night.

I have camped every year and I would highly reccomend it.

Just found a house in La Quinta for this year, not exactly cheap at $600 a person but our own private pool makes it worth it.

Any of you guys ever do VIP? Leaning towards it just for the ability to skip lines, but not 100% yet.

The VIP isn't really all that it's cracked up to be. The lines you skip are mostly just for the bathrooms. I guess the beer garden by the main stage is close to the stage so you can see better from there.

As for a place to stay - I personally would never camp. If you're young you should stay at a hotel since I've heard there's some pretty good pool parties. As others have said, get a shuttle pass so you're not driving and stay at a hotel that's located at a shuttle stop.

I've already got my tickets for this year. I believe the line up is released just before tickets go on sale again so if the line up is good then you should expect them to sell out within 30 minutes.

I've heard that you skip all the lines at entry, which doesn't seem like a big deal but I've been told that line can be ridiculous. The other aspect is that security is apparently a little more lax at the VIP entry, making outside refreshments a little easier to bring in.

We'll see, I have some friends pushing for it so likely just wind up going whichever way the group goes.

Expect the Coachella lineup to be released on Monday or Tuesday with all the promo videos released in the last week.

I'm pretty pumped!

When do tickets go on sale? I've heard generally a week after the lineup is announced.
