I think the Avs did a good job with their pre-lockout 3rds.
And call me crazy but I loved the Atlanta baby blues with Atlanta down the sleeve

I WISH!
But seriously guys, the response is overwhelming!
Unfortunately, these concepts will not see the light of day but I'm glad everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!
Seriously guys, thank you. As a designer, responses like that make my day.

Given the flood, and all the pulling together of the community the past few months, I can certainly see a tie in with civic pride. It's probably the release of this being the mothballed jersey KK pulled a few years back, now more of a reason to be having "Calgary" on the front.
After all, the owners put the flags on the jersey to show the provincial and national pride when representing out of province and country; if that feels manufactured and contrived, putting "Calgary" on the front, for civic pride, seems much less so given the events since late June.
|
Ugh, I really hope they don't try to go the way of releasing an ugly jersey and then playing up some civic pride angle to make it okay. An ugly jersey does not have anything to do with civic pride, heck neither does a good looking jersey.
Just design something that looks nice and doesn't stray too far from the core elements. Leave the pandering garbage out of it.

Actually have no issues with word marks when done right, and it is just a word mark.
Issue is when you do a word mark and the logo, like the Canucks jerseys.
Really liked this Avalanche jersey actually.

Word marks suck. I would rather have that then the horse head though, but I'd rather have neither.
I wouldn't mind seeing them incorporate orange into the colour scheme instead of gold. Either red, orange and white, or red, orange and black. Keep the logo the same though. It's nice, but graphically when you are using fire, there is a fine line between being corny (the horse head) or classic (like the Flaming C).

Wouldn't have any issue with a cleaner, more stylized version of what is below.

Not bad. The right hue of yellow is a very hard thing to nail.

Something I just stumbled on in the other jersey thread and a cool idea for a yellow jersey:

Buddy sent me this that works at EA says this is one of a couple sent jersey prototypes that the Flames have sent to EA. Says they haven't decided what ones to go with yet
