Come on . . .

We have goalies who are getting used to completely different lines of sight and speed. We have young players who are going to struggle when they actually take on NHL players and get used to it.

We wanted a blow up and rebuild, you might as well take off the we're going to upset teams and be successful hat and put down. I'm watching the game to see how individuals do and if they're going to be good NHL players some day.

There are going to be more f ups mistakes blunders stupidity and hilarity this season then we've ever seen before since we have never seen a dramatic rebuild in this city before.

Should we not discuss bad performances?

All I said was those goals were weak. That really was the only thing of note on the highlight package other than big ern destroying that guy.

If our team is going to suck, as many people here are reminding us, why is it then bad to say they suck before being reminded?

So weird.

"Jeez. That was a bad play"

"get used to it. We're gonna suck!"

"Um..... Ok"

If we are judging on pre season play it looks like MAF is out of PIT pretty soon then because he lets in weak goals as well, he must suck

You don't really need to go to a hockey game to see how much patience the people in this city has. Try visiting Deerfoot at 5pm on a weekday. Or any other major roadway (and a few of the less major ones).

Luckily, for every nutjob that freaks out during the rebuild there will be a silent majority of Flames fans that try to tune them out and remember the excitement we felt when playoff hockey returned at the end of the 90s dry spell.

This isn't the first rebuild we have had to experience and it certainly will not be the last but hopefully with the new "blueprint" to the team we can try to have a healthy draft and development system to mitigate the lows and maintain the highs.

Good post. The only thing i am wondering is how great actors James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman get cast as Burke and Feaster, but Hartley is played by "who's the boss" tv actor? Have to think the producers could get someone better.

Was at the game last night. Most of the first period was owned by the Flames til the end of the period. Second period was all penalties and fights which was hard to gauge the players, but they killed every penalty and a couple were 5 on 3. Third period was alright as the boys finally put some scoring chances together and got a couple goals. David Jones had a nice one, from the angle I was at he didn't have much room to hit but picked the corner on a snap shot.

Grats did what he does best and that's smash faces. Berra struggled all night fighting the puck, hopefully it's a one game thing. Not too many guys stood out for me, but it was nice to see Stajan of all people come to the aid of Jones. Blair Jones played hard and looks like he is taking his new role seriously, finished every check hard. Baertschi showed some flashes and looks like he may be a good playmaker and goal scorer. Sieloff looked like he was a junior player out there, think he needs another year as an overage in Windsor.

Who keeps giving Chris Butler a jersey to put on, this guy is awful! Even against the Sens prospects he was making bad decisions with the puck and gave it away a few times. He doesn't offer anything at all, doesn't hit and generally looks bad.

Monahan and Poirer were alright but didn't stand out. Knight was good around the net all game as was finally rewarded with a goal. Jooris is great in the faceoff dot, didn't lose many draws. Those are my takeaways from the game in Saskatoon last night.
