A step backwards IMO but willing to give him time to find his comfort zone. I understand some people disliked Walker, but he worked in that slot - he and Boomer played well off each other.

Pinder and Walker would have been better.

Disagree. Have thoroughly enjoyed Pinder on 960. I think the more comfortable he gets, the more his personality will show. He's not a negative nelly like Walker either, so that's good.

It's a tough gig, no doubt, to have your work out there for the whole world to listen to and critique on public forums. I'm generally the first one to roll my eyes when people get up in arms over a particular radio personality as, like you said, there's no pleasing everyone.
I'm not a huge fan of his so far but definitely willing to let him get comfortable and see how the show develops with him in that seat.

I approve. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Boomer take on Walker's role as the overtly negative guy. He's shown it from time to time, but obviously less so lately as he had to reign it in during the Walker period.

Disagree - IMO, all Boomer and Waker did was yell over each other
I have enjoyed Pinder - it is a different, less abrasive, and more dynamic combination

Pinder is good. He can actually back up the things he says articulately with facts and logical arguments (Unlike Leslie and Griffiths). He also seems like a 100% Flames supporter, not a "transplanted" one.

I do not understand why this would matter one iota.
Why do sports talk radio personalities have to be fans of "my" team, to make them any good?
Good radio talent is good radio talent....regardless of where their own particular loyalties lie.

Since Pinder was sitting in as a temp fill in for staff on summer vacation I have liked his viewpoints and delivery over the radio.
He seems to be pretty solid on a variety of sports topics.

Congrats to Pinder. I think he did well over the summer. One thing about Walker was that he wasn't a Flames fan so he was pretty objective calling the team bad when they deserved it. I hope it's not all kool-aid as I don't want to be like Edmonton where the media makes a love fest over a 30th place team. I never want this city and it's media to stoop that low.

A lot of people appreciate when the radio personalities on their hometown station don't trash the hometown team.
Generally if you're listening to a hockey-centric station in Calgary, you're likely a fan of the Flames, and I don't know about you, but while I find critique extremely valuable, I'd also like to listen to people who are actually fans and perhaps passionate about the team. Not guys who are only talking about it because they have to.

Lots and lots of guys, Walker included, are extremely passionate about the game....they dont need to be fans of any one team to be so either.
Who cares if they trash the home team as long as its desereved?
And as far as local cheerleaders, the FAN is already full of them. Maher, Steinberg, Molberg, Humphries, Loubardias.....is it imperative that they need yet another?
I just want talented guys to inform and entertain....dont care if they are wearing Oiler jersies and have Canuck tatoos on their asses.

I agree that they don't necessarily have to be die-hard Flames fans, but as for the bolded part ... that's just wrong.

You want to be like Edmonton? That city's teams and media have been an embarrassment running for a decade.

I think there is probably some middle ground between a guy who hates the Flames and the pathetic homer-ism of the Oiler guys

Great hire. I like having a Calgary guy on the radio. I like Pat but Pinder is actually funny. Enough of these Edmonton goofs like Bryn. I know some dont like Leslie but I think he is coming into his own as well. 960 is on the rise with Pinder replacing Walker and Leslie taking over for Bryn
