Speaking of Florida, why would 2pm on a weekday be a good time for a pre-season hockey game?

Sure, but realistically, the Panthers have these guys and will choose how to deal with them. I'd speculate there's probably a clause in the PTO that gives them first right of refusal, otherwise, what's the point?

It's not really sad, it's a Monday afternoon pre-season game, hard to expect anyone to show up for that.

Because it's the perfect excuse when no one shows up (which they wouldn't, regardless of the time)

Ha, that actually might be pretty bang on. They are playing a double header, so maybe it just wouldn't fit on a weekend making a weekday the only option.

Particularly in a market like Florida where support is weak unless the team is winning.

Here's the problem with this theory: They have Clemmenson on a 1 way deal. If Thomas signs there, Markstrom has to be sent down, or they have to find someone willing to take Clemmenson. And if you really wanted a veteran goalie to help mentor the young guy on how to be a good pro and teammate or whatever, do you really want Tim freakin' Thomas?

Would you really want to be trapped in the same arena with Tim Thomas in a state with a "stand your ground" law?
It's just a matter of time before tragedy ensues . . .

Tim Thomas at Florida practice in a Black Panther jersey - I'm going to call him Carlos Smith from this day forward.

I will forever remember and enjoy the image of Thomas standing his ground against Sedin. Top 10 (non Flames) hockey moment.

I can't imagine he will be bad playing this year. He is a good goalie, people just seem to remember that stuff he posts on facebook.
He will perform and hopefully for the panthers get them some extras wins so the flames have a better chance at 1st overall in the 2014 draft.
