I can't wait to see just what the writers cooked up for the finale. This season has been something else (not in a good way obviously) so I'm ready for a spectacularly stupid ending

The final season of Dexter reminds me of a typical Flames season. Starts off like ####, gives you hope that things will turn around only to let you down in the end.

Dexter may face some personal losses, but I get the sense that the series is going to end with his true nature remaining secret. We'll see how things go next week.

Probably the best episode the show's had since last season.
Finally a proper couple of scenes between Deb and Dex. Still some really stupid lines sprinkled in, but there were at least some believable scenes as well. It was also strangely eventful, as it should be for the series pre finale, but of course then they go and spoil Deb's fate in the promo. I'm glad Saxon didn't go down that easy, cause that would have just sucked the last bit of life out of this thing.
The final episode could be fun. One where multiple storylines will clash, plus a race against time for him and Hannah. Kind of like old Dexter used to be. Still pretty underwhelmed but last week then tonight are an improvement.
Can only hope for some interesting twist ending - Saxon finishing Deb, Dexter getting caught or exposed, Hannah betraying him, Dexter's death? I dunno. Hopefully something that isn't entirely expected. But are the writers ballsy enough? Hard to say...

Does anyone else think Dexter not wanting to kill anymore now that he is with Hannah sort of belittles Rita's character? He's only known Hannah for a while, yet he was with Rita for years got married and had three kids (one being his own). Yet only now he wants to stop killing people? Sort of something that irks me about his sudden change.
Oh and why did the Marshall just let Saxon go like that? Even if he didn't know who he was obviously there was a reason he was tied up like that. He deserved to die for doing something that idiotic.
Better episode for sure, but this season is too far gone for them to resolve the massive amount of issues going into these last couple episodes. Sadly with Breaking Bad killing it this season is too anticlimactic for my liking.

I don't care about a single character on this show...and this season has made me hate one of my favorite actors (Hall). Time to reboot Dexter with the Breaking Bad writers and directors. Heck...have it take place in the same universe so Dexter can be represented by Saul in the finale.

^ Yup...Dexter's character has changed so much from when the series first started, and not in a good way (even if he is more "normal").

Not to mention Saxson was supposedly all over the news with a warrant and this person with the law didn't know who he was? he had to ask?
He knew Debra had come here, maybe look for Debra?
Was slow moving till the end. Can't wait for the ending, hopefully its good. Show will remain one of my favorites. Hall is a wicked actor.

I stopped watching the show after a couple of episodes into this season, I watched it religiously for years and now it is just too terrible to endure. Is Lem from The Shield in the show now?

I never really thought he cared too much for Rita and the life they had. She brought that sense of 'normal' that Dexter wanted, but I think he saw her as more of a hindrance than anything. With Hannah, Dexter doesn't have to worry about trying to be somebody else. She knows who he is, and doesn't care.

Finally watched the last episode. It was better then most of the season, but i agree the whole BOTLO for Saxon to the public was really downplayed. He is roaming around Miami with ease, lol.
Not sure if Deb is going to make it this time
Is Hannah going to get snagged at the Airport or does she notice she is being followed and kill the PI...
Who is Saxon going to go after next in the series finale.

My hunch is that Deb dies. It is the end of the series, after all. My fear is they'll wimp out on Dexter's demise, so you have to end with a big bang, I think.

Deb dies, Dexter kills Saxon, Quinn finds out how Deb dies and he kills Dexter. Or Deb dies, Hannah and Saxon are actually together and kill Dexter and abduct Harrison. The fact this show is such a mess right now just opens up the possibilities for anything, which I suppose makes it fun.

I think it shows Dexters growth. One of the thematic questions around Dexter has always been wether Dexter is just a killer who is muted by the code or if he could change and become normal. The answer was he was more then the sum of the code. I liked that progression and have found it believalbe.
The rest of this season has been pretty bad and has had none of the flow of the earlier Dexter seasons. It is really a let down. I hope the end is Dexter sacrificing himself for Deb and Harrison. As a sociopath he would save himself. Earlier this season Vogal said that rule number 1 was don't get caught so he was allowed to kill innocent people to save himself. To overcome that programming and having him die to save others by making a deliberate choice would complete Dexter's transition to human from someone who played human.

It just really doesn't feel like the series is about to end. It just feels more like another season to me.
How would Hannah and Deb (in particular) not think they might be followed? Deb instinctively knew that Elway was on to her and Hannah, and yet she does not think the head of a security company might have the resources to follow her? Or that the Deputy Marshall wouldn't think to follow her, given that he's been crawling up her ass for the last while?
Also, why would Dexter just leave Saxon alive? I get that he's apparently lost the urge to kill, but Saxon could potentially bring him down. I know Dexter is leaving, but if his background is brought to light, is it not possible that Deb's involvement would be brought to light as well, or that it might have a slight negative impact on her career in law enforcement? Or that Saxon might still come after her. She is pretty bad ass, but he's also a decent enough serial killer.
Also, what was the game plan with the way that Saxon was tied up? Deb calls for back up and says that she managed to subdue the killer, and then get him up in the chair and then shackle him and gag him? Would they not think that's odd?
I don't know. I don't know about this.
I just can't believe that it's almost over and these are the things I am thinking about.
I love Michael C. Hall. I hope the finale delivers. I was hoping it was going to be longer than an hour, but still one hour. I hope it isn't all rushed.

I figure that Dexter decides to stay in Miami because Deb is hurt. Hannah is pissed that he chooses Deb over her. Then she kills him when she realizes that he is no longer the man that needs to kill that she fell in love with.
