for some reason I can't get the clip to work, but I understand that there is no video review in the preseason. Going by what others are saying I really don't understand what the ref or goal judge were looking at.

It was great getting home from work to see a Flames win. When I left work, the Flames were getting clobbered in both games. So much for that!

Galiardi and Horak both had more - or were you referring to even strength only?

We would suck with or without these vets. Of course some I would keep - Gio, Glenx, Galliardi, Cammy, Jones. But I'd rather suck without. And that thought has little bearing on the results of tonight. There were enough games just like this one at the tail end of last year when Sven, Reinhart, Hanowski and co. were running things.
I may get excited at times. But I know based on past seasons that I can at least take the losing side of things better than some here. It's our first taste of hockey, give a guy a break...

Ok, just saw the clip. That back ref was out to lunch. I don't think you could be in a better position.

For a few games, the kids can hold their own. But over 82 games, they would get worn down, exposed, and destroyed

Really glad to see come backs from both flame squads tonight. I was at the flames game in Calgary tonight and they definitely played better than the oilers and had better chances (although the game did not have very much flow to it).

It's sad that I am having to listen to 630 CHED for a postgame show, because Fan 960 felt the need to flip to US programming.

I was up in PL4 tonight, and the concessions up there were charging $8.25 for a red solo cup worth.

I agree. That's why I said I'd keep some key ones around, still. But the ratio between vets and youngsters needs to be more even.
Regulars from last year.. Sven, Brodie, Backlund. 3 "young" guys. And now we've got room for one or two more? Not nearly enough space made, for a team in a rebuild phase. We should have 4-6 up front alone.

Berra made some insane saves today. Looked really really good out there. Although too early to tell, he looks to have potential to be our starter.
Jooris made a few plays in the first or second period that were pretty nice and was pretty quiet other than a great third period.
Street had a good few shifts he was on, seemed to notice him make some nice plays especially in the second period where he got robbed by Dubnyk.
Sven had a decent game. Made some questionable passes, one led to Kulak? taking a penalty I believe. But he's great at taking pucks away like Datsyuk.
I really like Galiardi, I thought he played a really good game and seemed to notice when he was on. Won quite a few face offs I believe.
That shoot out was something else, was expecting to get destroyed but was pleasantly surprised. Although when the oilers were awake in the first period, the flames looked like a peewee team.

Ramo's stats ... ouch. I mean it should be 14/17 (.823) with Hall's "goal," but not a great first game for the best goalie not in the NHL. Didn't see the game but Berra put up some good stats, Ramo better get his **** together. So will we see Brossoit on Monday?

i still say Baertschi's defensive game is very underrated. His hockey sense usually puts him in the middle of the play offensively and defensively. That being said, he had some lazy plays/penalties tonight. I think he definitely stepped his game up from rookie camp/Penticton, but he still has a ways to go.

Not sure what to think about Jooris. Kind of came out of nowhere. He's 23, so maybe a late-bloomer? Or flash in the pan?

Did I mention Kulak sucked tonight. Just a hundred times.

Could care less if they let Butler and jackman go now, but you don't trade Cammy and Stajan at this time. There worth will be a lot more at the deadline. If you traded Cammi now you would have to take a bad contract back and probably only get a 2nd. At the deadline he could get a 1st + a "meh" prospect. No team is going to throw out 1st round picks right now. Stajan's value will also be higher at the deadline. Not to mention a team full of youngsters would get destroyed over 82 games.

He works hard. He's similar to Turner Elson, IMO.

Smart too, from what little I've seen of him. Probably the type of guy you could slot in on any line and he'd adapt his game to match.
He's making a case for himself anyway.
