Have to respect he sticks to his guns and always does things his way.
CH's George Johnson with a great quote:
"The great Spencer Tracy once said: “The only thing any actor owes his public is a good performance.”That goes for any one-in-a-generation puck-stopper, too."
Couldn't be bothered to see if it's been mentioned, but with Kipper's retirement the Flames have the second lowest cap number in the league, behind only the Isles.
Could care less if the Flames had the second lowest cap or not with the retirement of Kipper. He could've played another one or two more years as a Flames. And no, he's not a commodity. And yes, he is the best goalie in the last 10 years.
gonna really miss you Kipper....the Scorpion ....the smokes ...the vodka between periods and on your net ...just kidding ....cool water in those veins .....you'll never be replaced

Absolutely
in the last 10 years, Kipper is the best goalie in the NHL
He may not have been the best EVERY year, but over 10 years there's nobody who has been able to be as consistently outstanding

I agree with this as well, he was very consistent. There is no one else around who has been as good and solid as him for that long. Maybe Brodeur, but try to name someone else is hard.
IMO Sutter's biggest mistake wasn't the lack of a true #1 center. His biggest gaff was never giving Mikka a true backup. I honestly think a healthy, fresh Kipper would have made a difference during some of those playoff runs. It's sad that Joey MacDonald has been our best backup since the '05 lockout. Cujo, Toskala and any other 'big name' backup never really lived up to their task. Keeping that in mind just goes to show how important Kipper was for us.
I think this is a good statement ^^^^. He played more than any other goalie and this I am sure took a toll on him over the years. Who knows what would have happened if Kipper wasn't a true machine and couldn't handle 70 games a season.
I think he was 2nd to Brodeur not that it is an insult to kipper though
Not sure about that at all- considering the Devils have had better teams since 2003-04 and here how it lays out since Kipper started with the Flames:
Brodeur
---------
304-189-54- 58 SO 2.30 GAA 912.7 SA%
Kipper
________
308-192-68- 41 SO 2.20 GAA 912.3 SA%
It's safe to say Brodeur has been on a better team during this timeline. Considering this and that the Flames haven't made the playoffs for the last 4 years, it's a true testament to Kipper's importance. Especially considering the circumstances with team successes and Kipper setting the modern day record for GAA.
Boom !

Wow, their stats are very similar. Difference of four games in wins, .1 in GAA, and .0004 in sv%. All over the course of ten years?
9 years- incl. lockout year (10 yrs) where neither played in the NHL and Mikka was hot as hell and who knows- i took out lockout year obviously. Also, Mikka's last year really downed his stats a bit too. Stats since 2003-04 when Mikka started with the Flames.

Plus Brodeur played in the East.
and didn't Brian Elliot break Kipper's GAA 2 years ago?
