Bryzgalov to FLA on PTO

It's not long ago that he was considered a top-10 goalie; amazing that his stock has fallen so far. Could HBO 24/7 have ruined his career? Sure he wasn't great last year for Philly but it really seems like other NHL teams staying away has had more to do with his personality than his play.

Would be shocked if he didn't earn a contract with the Panthers and be the best goalie they've had since Luongo.

I think Vokoun was the best goalie they've had since Luongo and his career save percentage is better than Bryz's. Vokoun has been one of the most consistent goaltenders, at least statistically, of the past decade and yet he seems to fly under the radar. Anyways, I hope that Bryzgalov earns a contract, he can be a quality goaltender and he is an awesome character.

Jacob Markstrom is going to be great, Bryz there to spilt duty might help, but I'd give the youngster more starts that's for sure.

All goalies in Philly struggle. All goalies in Phoenix are world beaters. Hitchcock never seems to coach bad goalies. Tampa can't find one to save their lives. Kipper in Calgary retired after lousy backchecking and soft D were the team he had to deal with.

Florida is a crapshoot but no worse than Philly for Bryzgalov. Good luck to him.

I love seeing teams that finished lower than us getting better... If Bryz comes in and plays like he's able to or like he used to then I can see the panthers doing well.

The Flames have enough goalies in their system, they don't need to sign anyone...let the guys in the system prove their worth.

What does that say to the competence of a GM when he gives out a $50 million contract to a goaltender that two years later is on a PTO.

I don't like Bryzgalov. He's a complete flake, a poor teammate, mentally fragile, and right down to it a pretty mediocre goaltender. Guys like him and Thomas can pound sand as far as I'm concerned.
