I guess he chickened out, and is now pleading not guilty

What a punk, you could see the regret about his decision in his eyes when he walked into the court room. I originally figured he was hoping to get sympathy from the judge for his little slactivism video, so he would get a lighter sentence. When that wasn't apparent I guess he chickened out. I guess I had higher hopes the punk would actually keep his word.

Thread title updated to reflect on his character.

I didn't want to crap on the thread when it was posted, but did anyone else have a bit of a problem with the stupid "sad" music in the background? It was like the video was produced by a professional sympathy beggar.

You do realize we can still see the first (bizarre) post you made in the thread, right?

Not too surprising that someone selfish enough to drink and drive would make another selfish decision, but still a shame to hear.

And my faith in humanity takes another plummet

Figures

I'd like to beat him with a bag full of door knobs.

Hopefully they enter that video into evidence. The judge looks at his insincerity and throws an extra few years at him.

Huh? The whole CNN video linked is about the judge being fully aware of the video. Her whole speech was talking about how because of the video they were expecting a guilty plea. It was literally the entire focus of that clip.

I've said it before, people are rarely sorry about what they do until they're facing justice in the face. Then suddenly its wah wah wah I'm so sorry. I'll never do it again.

Whatever.

This punk ain't sorry, he wanted a reduced sentence by posting a slick little video.

He wants to meet the victims family with no lawyers or witnesses. He just doesn't want his guilt entered into evidence.

If I was the victims family, I would tell this pos that I hope the guilt eats at him when he's sitting in a 6x8 cell.

I wouldn't meet him unless cameras were present.

He isn't sorry.

He's sorry he was about to be caught.

I get that but she won't be the judge at the trial. They will randomly select a judge. The defense lawyers will certainly try to get the video excluded from the evidence because its self incriminating and reflects frame of mind.

The trial is entirely separate from the arraignment.

Hopefully they can find a way to get this video admitted as evidence as that should easily get this scumbag convicted. They should also bring up his attorneys up on charges if they can prove they told him to lie, or commit perjury in court in order to get off.

Self preservation is a base instinct, same as remorse.

You think that will fly? he made a confession .. to the world. He had the right to remain silent, he chose not to exercise that right. I'm not a lawyer but I don't see any reason to exclude his public comments. It's not like he was coerced, entrapped, illegally searched or recorded.

Did you guys listen the video at all? Sounds like this is some legal wrangling to ensure he has a randomly selected judge for sentencing. His lawyers said he will enter a guilty plea at a later date.

What a piece of crap. Like 4x4 I didn't want to rain on the thread parade but I didn't find his confession to be inspiring at all. It felt like a publicity stunt and someone confessing to a crime should not be heralded. Taking responsibility for your actions is not posting a YouTube video. Shut up, do your time and stop with the publicity stunt. Idiots who drink and drive are the worst of society and they're usually too stupid and hard headed to realize
They're a danger to themselves and everyone on the road.

He's just another scum bag who drinks and drives and is only sorry he got caught. I'm sure he feels bad but he still handled everything wrong from the beginning and just looks like a scumbag looking for sympathy. I hope they throw the maximum penalty at him.

edit- after looking at a few articles, I don't know what to think. Most recent articles written suggest they expect him to enter a guilty plea, while only one suggested he has changed his mind. A few other suggested he will make an initial plea of not guilty, for legal reasons, and then change it later?

I guess we will just wait until he enters his plea later today. There was no plea entered yesterday though- the judge delayed it because of some improper procedures.

And where exactly did he lie or commit perjury? He didn't even say anything outside of entering his plea.

The guy said the lawyer told him to lie in the initial video but I call BS like the rest of his video.
