I have to wonder if Feaster isn't overanalysing here... maybe the "orgnanizational disease" is simply that we aren't good enough to win consistently.

I think it has more to do with constancy of effort rather than talent. Several players showed flashes of good skill, but were mostly invisible. Only a handful of players showed any consistency from shift to shift game to game (Granlund, Ferland, Wotherspoon, Sieloff, Ramage and to a lesser extend Poirier)

It's a small red flag when you have Monahan and Baertschi both being mostly invisible (Monahan did score a lot, but you could tell he was fighting it).

Hopefully by calling them out now, it might help to get rid of any bad habits that might be forming.

Pleasant surprises:

Reinhart was excellent in both games I saw live (Edmonton, Vancouver). He's pro-strong now and plays with more consistent effort than anyone else I saw.

Granlund was the best offensive player for the Flames. Not only was he finishing, but he was making short passes down low that led to chances as well as beating guys one-on-one with some impressive moves.

Ramage is a leader on the ice and a talented player. He was making fakes that would buy him time to maneuver over and over again. He was the most impressive D.

Hanowski is way faster and reasonably effective. I disagree with the negative reviews of his skating and play that I have seen. He's a physical presence who shows a good understanding of the game. He may have NHL upside.

Jooris continued to play well and was about as effective as Knight and Baertschi.

Ortio played superbly in the game vs. the Canucks. Were it not for him they would have lost a game they eventually dominated.

Ferland was so much faster and displayed such good hands that I was completely surprised. I have never been as excited about him as a prospect as I am now.

Disappointments:

Baertschi's play has been well-treaded above. Disappointing showing. Any time he actually made a good play or battled for the puck with intensity was a relief.

Knight was less effective than I was hoping. His play did not indicate that he is ahead of the other Abbotsford guys. I thought Hanowski was better.

Roy had some good moments offensively, but he looks like a forward covering for D in his own zone. His awareness is way behind the other D and his angles need work. He has tools, but a long way to go.

With the exception of Monahan, his comments were similar to what I got roasted for.

I liked his comments about Baertschi and that he has to play the type of hockey expected of him on a consistent basis. I also like the not so veiled threat to trade him if he doesn't want to play the style of hockey the club wants. Sounds like a specific identity is what the team is after and they are not going to put a player above that identity. Hopefully there is more to this than there is to intellectual honesty.

ob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 36s CGY HC Bob Hartley is really high on prospect winger Michael Ferland but he's going to need back that up with a strong training camp.

Just finished watching the Feaster video. I am not a big fan of Feaster, but i must say that was his best analysis and interview that he has given while on board with the flames. I don't think i disagreed with anything he said.

I was pretty happy too see that Feaster highlight what he considered a lack of effort from certain players and the team for 40 minutes at one point. I know some people thought some of us were silly for pointing out Baertschi's effort but this is chance for him to push himself and be an example of the kind of leadership that rubs off on everyone else. He already has a head start but if his effort is poor then other players start thinking they don't need to put in the effort. We need more players with Theoren Fleury syndrome, pissed easily and want to win every single game. Very happy with Feaster's comments in this video.
