Default Custom Apparel/Accessories (smartphone skins, etc) Recommendations/Experiences

I started a thread in Buy & Sell section this summer, but meant for it to be here.
Link: http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129155
***
Summary of some of the recommendations and some of the stuff I've found:

Mostly would likely be looking at:
- hats/caps (performance/sport option would be nice)
- polo shirt
- jacket
- smartphone skins

Advice from Flaming Homer:
"If your quantities are low be prepared for a high cost per piece especially setting up a new logo.
If you are looking at embroidery, you will need to convert your artwork to an embroidery file which is called digitizing. Depending on the stitch count this could be $30-$100. Most left chest sized design should be in the 30-50 dollar range.
Remember the maximum height to go on a finished cap is about 2.25".

Per piece cost to embroider will be based on quantity and stitch count.

Screenprinting is priced mostly by the amount of colours in your logo.

It will be best to call around as the prices will vary greatly because the big guys generally charge a lot more to do small orders because of the P.I.T.A. factor. Some companies are better suited for that type of order and charge a more reasonable price."

Appreciate any other Recommendations/Experiences anyone has to share.

- Quantities would be anywhere from 1-50 (range, I know!)
- want to get custom logo on the product

Thanks

You can try finding a vendor on etsy.ca that makes products you are looking for. Most are used to smaller orders and are open to customizing things to your liking.

I would avoid tech items like smartphone skins, usb sticks, mouse pads...

You're at the whim of Apple, Samsung, etc. If they change the design of their phones you're stuck with outdated shwag. Unless it's for company phones. Then I guess you'll just be ordering more when the phones get updated.

Tech accessories just seem to look dated really quickly.
