7-1 Flames
Granlund keeps rolling tonight and gets 2 goals
Monahan wakes up and gets another 2
1 each from Reinhart, Poirier and Hanowski
Baerstchi plays like garbage again.
Shinkaruk looks as useless against real competition as Nurse looked last night.
baby Canucks only take 15 shots on net.
Go Flames Go!

I would say evaluating Ortio is at the top of the list tonight. He was basically chased out of NA a couple seasons ago. Excited to see if he has game tonight.

While I think Monahan is a step above Shinkaruk and Horvat and has a greater chance of making the NHL this year, every single fan does this with their respective prospects. HFOilers are talking about Nurse potentially making the jump this year, and that Nurse, Klefbom and Marincin will form a solid back end for years. We're guilty of the same with Monahan, Gaudreau, etc. That said, I think we have a better collection of prospects, considering that a couple of our top ones (Gaudreau, Gillies, and to a lesser extent Jankowski) can't even play in the tournament.

I'm going for a 5-2 win for the baby flames. I hope Poirier can pot a couple.
I don't know that Shinkaruk will step it up tonight. Flames D will make him pay a little bit I think!
Go Flames!

Kanzig seems to be recieving a decent try-out in this camp. Would like to see what his TOI per game is at the end of the series.

My friend who is a Blackhawks fan watched the canucks game last night. He hates the Canucks as much as i do. Even he said Horvat was incredible. He thought that if Horvat can play like that through camp, he would make the roster as the #3 center.
Didn't say anything about Shinkaruk.
Should be a better match up tonight. Edmonton's prospects looked brutal. Granted i think Nurse is going to be a great d-man in years to come.

A little OT, but this makes me even more glad we did not draft him. What kinda prospect goes public with this stuff?
I think he just painted a target on his back for tonight...

Lots of teams passed on Shinkaruk. He was projected to go about 10th overall, and he fell qutie a bit. There's only one person at fault for this.... him. Calgary saw past the 'hometown' factor and drafted according to other high priority factors - as they should have.
If he wants to be butthurt, maybe he should look in the mirror and ask why Calgary didn't consider him.

I don't think that's an bad thing to say at all. It really doesn't matter how he feels about us not picking him since management had their priorities instead. That being said, I hope Kanzig destroys him tonight.

I don't think what he said was bad. I'm sure other prospects that fell, feel this way too. Nothing wrong with being motivated to prove those teams wrong.

I am also fairly sure he will shine during this tourney. He is an elite scorer after all, and will show up well amongst his peers. He has been doing that for a while after all.
I do not, however, think he will be a thorn in the Flames' side much. Kid has an uphill climb to get into the NHL. I am happy to have Poirier over Shinkaruk, and I believe Poirier will end up being a very important piece for the future of the Flames. I think Shinkaruk could have been a good gamble for a team like the Flames to take with 3 first rounders, but I am also happy that the Flames did their best to make all 3 picks count as much as possible. Shinkaruk is a risk, and thus the drop from 'sure fire top 10' into the mid 20's. Attitude problems are a huge reason why kids fall in the draft these days (hence the interview process is often more regarded by teams over the physical testing portion). If true that this kid does have attitude problems, makes him more of a risk.
Really great to see Ferland being paired with Monahan tonight. Nice to see Ward rewarding this kid for his hard work and great play. Really love this kids game, and I still say he has the potential to be one of the biggest fan favorites of the franchise if he makes it.

2 months ago it sounded like he wasn't even interested in coming to Calgary in these articles.
Now he's mad that the team he didn't want to play for passed on him (twice, lol, like he was going to get picked at 6th)? The kid is full of himself.
He's a little dink and belongs on a line with Kesler and Burrows. A true Canuck if I've ever seen one.

Sure, probably hurts not being picked by your home town, but he should also be mad at Dallas, Philly, Winnipeg, Columbus x 2, New York, Buffalo, Ottawa, Detroit, San Jose, Toronto and Washington. But he's right, it wasn't him that was the problem, there's obviously something wrong with those 13 teams.

Canucks lines
Hunter Shinkaruk - Bo Horvat - Zach Hall
Cain Franson - Cole Cassels - Nicklas Jensen
Adam De Champlain - Phillippe Maillet - Alexandre Mallet
Mitch Elliot - Alex Friesen - Ludwig Blomstrand
Evan McEneny - Frankie Corrado
Sacha Guimond - Jordan Subban
Miles Liberati - Henrik Tommernes
Joacim Eriksson
Mathieu Corbiel
Top 6 is good, but Flames forwards should chew that defense up and spit it out.
Gaunce out, maybe injured?
