I guess. There's nothing to lose by shutting him down at this point. I'd say shut down Reyes as well in the even there's a freak injury. Team's going nowhere this year, why not sit your good guys who may get into those freak injuries this time of the year? What a disappointing season though.

As a fan of the sport I would be pissed if the best players get sat at end of the year. The odd game off yes but to just pack it in for the season that would piss me off. Nothing is worse then going to a sporting event and the best players not playing

Yeah totally glad I went to see a game before things went down the tubes.

Although watching the Jays play out the string is a good dry-run for coping with the upcoming Flames season.

Nice little piece about J.P. Arencibia today on DJF.

http://blogs.thescore.com/djf/2013/0...il-bag-091013/

Quote:
Arencibia’s on-base percentage has somehow regressed from the piss poor .282 he posted in his first season as a starter, to this year’s .239– the lowest mark among any qualified hitter in baseball by 20 points, and lower than the third-worst qualified mark by 30 points!
In fact, to give some further perspective, if the season ended today, Arencibia’s OBP would be the worst by any qualified hitter since 1995… by nine points. Since 1933, only two qualified hitters– of over ten-*******-thousand– have finished a season with a lower OBP than Arencibia currently has.
