I think that is unlikely he loves StL.
He is the reason the "Forever a Flame" program exists is, because he turned down offers for jersey retirement. Feeling he did not want to be tied that closely to two teams.

Perhaps the poster "#-3" is the big MacInnis himself.

I don't think he is the reason that " Forever a Flame" exists. It was just a horrible idea that KK thought of.
However i do remember that Al turned down the flames to have his jersey retired because he wanted to have it retired by the Blues first. I think both teams approached him in the same year and he chose the Blues.

I thought the choice was the Flames because they didn't want to retire the number of someone working for another organization.

Macinnis did more in his career in calgary than he did in St. Louis. I call bs on what you state above

Macinnis didn't leave the Flames on the best of terms, and the one time I met him (roughly 5 years ago) I didn't get the feeling from him things had changed. He made clear that he was a Blue now, was a weird feeling
Now, since then, the 1989 reunion happened and some bridges I assume were bridged

Yeah, MacInnis may not have been too impressed with how things ended in Calgary. The Flames did trade him. Marcus Allen did a lot as a Raider....He wanted to go to the Hall of Fame as a Chief.

I probably would agree with you. After all, he won his only cup and conn smythe trophy here, as well as a Canada Cup. But, he may think his Norris, gold medal, and MUCH richer contracts in St. Louis outweigh his achievements in Calgary.

He scored nearly 2/3 of his career points in Calgary and played 11 years here. He had a legacy in St. Louis but didn't he leave their front office when JD left?
Also his wife and family are originally from here. I am just taking a guess but I think it makes some sense

I remember a couple of years after Al left Calgary reading how he and his family felt like St.Louis was home and it was like they had lived there all their lives. He still works for them and i believe that his children have grown up and still live in St.Louis.
By no means do i think Al has anything bad to say about Calgary, but i do think his heart is in St. Louis. Like i said in another post, both teams wanted to retire his jersey in the same year and he chose the Blues. Nothing wrong with that.
Anyway this thread is about Shanny and maybe who they might hire instead of him. My guess if its done before the season it is Nieuwendyk. I actualy don't think they will hire anybody.

Offering someone a job and being rejected and that being the end of it is now considered a 'fiasco'?

Like the Oilers, the Flames will face hard criticism for any and every little thing until the team makes the playoffs again.
