Not even in the same ball park with this batch but that was expected after round 1. Went 1/4 this time around.

Some big overpayments in this batch, not willing to pay those prices.

That Vokoun contract is a damn steal. Can't believe Ellis got more than him, haha. Way to go Cheese, best back up in the league. Funny, if I wouldn't have got Broduer from Buffalo I was going to 9.99 Vokoun just to have a competitive starter.

I lost on Selanne, but at that price I am happy I did.. on to the next batch!

I agree. I was going to offer on Vokoun, much higher than what he signed for, but I thought there would be a boat load of offers much higher than mine.

Same. Great steal Cheese! Probably worth throwing down low ball offers on the off chance...

Damn, I changed my bid on SOB last minute. Clearly Cheese evaluated everyone's team and predicted the market and bid accordingly. Curious to know your fomula on this outstanding strategic move.

LOL...I just shot low ball offer at almost every UFA. Scattershot strategy I call it. I just missed out on 2 others as well.

Not worth bidding my last 800k!

I'd be better off trying to trade for a player and spending that money on sponsorships for next year.

What is funny about Vokoun is that clearly the GMs of the league anticipated his value being something a LOT higher then he went for, so much so that GMs didn't see the point in bidding as they recognized that they likely would have to over pay (based on UFA so far) or at the very least pay RFA type money...i mean, 79OV goalie has to be at least in the 5M range. Thereby the understanding of the market actually deterred would be suitors and allowed someone to swoop in and win him with a squatters bid (not picking on you Cheese).

I get the point you are making. But the strategy by Cheese is just that a strategy. If you are suggesting that it is pure luck I highly disagree. Anyone could have low balled across the board as well - Cheese had the cheeseballs to actually do it.

Folks we did have one bid discounted because they did not provide all info. Hate doing that but please ensure you pay attention on your bids.

From JiriHrdina

So remember your email MUST include all of the following details:
- The players you are bidding on
- Term of contract
- Per year salary
- AHL %
- Amount of total cap of the offers you are making
- Amount of cap room you have

If ANY of the above is missing - your bid is trashed. You will not be notified that your offer is invalid until after winning bids are announced. Get it right.

Cheese, why not 3 years on Vokoun? Seems like a no brainer since he's super cheap to buy out if you have to.

You are right. Lots of effort, strategy and 'balls' went into those bids.

I missed huge on a few guys I was targeting, never thought they would get the return they did... good for them. Too rich for my blood

Great job Cheese. Hejduk, Antropov and Gagne as well, even after all these years you're still showing us how to get things done
