I find the flags are extremely tacky. Especially the Alberta flag. The blue really stands out on the red jersey and I don't like it one bit.
At least we don't have the flaming snot logo on the pipes jersey. (I hope I'm not giving anybody ideas)

No, but on one of the teams I play with in a men's league here, every player has a Texas flag on one shoulder, and the other shoulder has the flag of whatever country the player is from.
Which is totally ****ing awesome.
I think it's even better than what the Flames do.

Just more confirmation that the Flames will have a new 3rd Jersey.
EA is apparently waiting for the Flames to release a new jersey:

edit: for those who are not familiar with EA's NHL games, what this means is EA has already programmed the new Flames and other teams jerseys into NHL14 but it is locked in the game until you enter a code. The reason EA hasn't given out this code is because the Flames haven't officially unveiled their jersey.

I don't know... maybe because there has been no official announcement that the retros will no longer be the 3rd jersey, or the lack of build up to the announcement. I know, I'm grasping at straws, but all I can do is dream now.

There is both the retro jersey AND a blank spot in the new EA game. Thus, it shall be different.

I agree that they are the best looking jersey that the team has and has had for a long time. I really liked them back in the day, but they are outdated now. Whoever they have been paying to come up with Flames jerseys in the past 20 years should be fired.
I find it quite sad that we have one of the best logo's in the NHL, but can't seem to put it on a great jersey.

I always figured they only brought it back so Iggy was wore the classic threads. Dropping it this year might be the proof.
Don't forget that the dreaded horsehead jersey did lay the ground work for the first red jersey with a black C. Maybe this third is a step in the right direction. Fingers crossed at least

That's my guess exactly.
I think the lack of announcement around the thing is because they've tweaked the 80s red road jersey a bit and they don't want it to be a splashy announcement for a minor change.
The good thing is that the old one is no longer the "one" so we all buy one that looks a lot like the new third for 20% of the cost.
