I thought for sure Hossa was going to be taken this round before me. I would not have been surprised either if he went in earlier rounds as well.
I like my top line a lot. Andreychuk on LW, Messier my center and Hossa on the right. Add to my top pairing of MacInnis and neidermeyer, picking 14 hasn't been terrible.

I think that Bure gets overrated by far, and that is coming for someone that loved him in the early to mid 90s, he was a great player... but he had the Russian attitude (which wasn't helped from having an awful Canucks management at the time) and he turned into a very selfish player, I think it was 1998 when he scored 50 goals and was jumping around the ice, all the while being part of an awful, awful team. It is pretty telling that he played in 4 playoff games after 1995. He played hard when it suited him more than anything else.

Yes, slightly higher peak, longer consistency though and with more of a physical edge.

Ovechkin already has three Hart Trophy's and a slew of other awards. I'd say he's clearly already a top 40 player of all time, and likely headed towards a top 20 player of all time career. I don't think he was taken too early at all, especially considering we're all going after current players.
Ovechkin should be labelled the greatest Russian player of all time once his career ends, I'd think that's almost a certainty as of now.
Call me crazy but I think Ovechkin might already be the second best post expansion left-winger (only behind Bobby Hull). Luc Robitaille was a very good player as well, but he never really excelled without Gretzky or another elite player centering him. Ovechkin hasn't nearly had the same level of players on the Capitals, and yet has already out-produced Robitaille (in an era with less scoring). He also is a more physical player to boot.

It doesn't look like anyone has taken Evgeni Malkin... so I'll take him
EDIT : he was taken in the 4th round... but he's NOT on the list of Centers taken, which is where I was looking... back to the drawing board.
EDIT 2 : I'll take Henrik Zetterberg!

Gonna have to go with the guy who went to jail for an on-ice assault:
Dino Ciccarelli!!
Not only did he like to score and get points, he dropped the gloves also.

Agreed... But I'm trying to build lines where I speculated there would be good chemistry... I think Iggy with the Sedins would be a phenomenal trio... Obviously I need Daniel to be available for my next pick.. Hopefully everyone here is nice enough to let that happen

Even though " PlayfulGenius" went out of turn, i will let him have his Sedin sister.
Kyuss275 is proud to select Keith Tkachuk
Since he played all forward positions i will put him at LW.
