Oilers sign Linus Omark -1 year/$600,000
Huh. I thought there was a lot of animosity between the Oilers and Omark. Guess not. No money yet.
“@EdmontonOilers: The Edmonton #Oilers have agreed to terms with forward Linus Omark on a one-year contract.”

Man, I'm so torn over this. I love the guy (grew up just a few miles apart in Northern Sweden) and really want him to be successful. But I don't want him to be successful for the Oilers. Sigh.

Gives them some much needed grit up front. Can tag team with Yakupov in some sweet goal celebrations.

Lowe finally figured out a loophole to get the player to pay the team.

Would flames fans think this was a good signing or a bad one if he was in our organization?
I don't know enough about him but it seemed he hasn't done anything really in an oilers uniform. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you team lacks spin-o-rama for no reason talent or puck flipping drills need an experienced coach to teach the kids, this is a great signing!

Yeah, Övertorneå! My sisters husband played with him there, met the guy few times (Along with Johan Harju). Linus is kind of an ass tbh, fits in with the Oilers well.

If another team wanted Omark, why wouldn't they just sign him instead of giving up assets for him in a trade? Trade and sign only makes sense in 2 ways: 1.) A star RFA unwilling to sign with team, but even then they would just trade his rights, not sign and then trade. 2.) In the NBA where the re-signing team can offer more money and term than any other team (see Lebron trade).

Really, do people "Always bring this up"?
I assumed the oilers still owned his rights. that and the fact he doesn't fit on the oilers top 2 lines makes me think he's not a good fit there. there were also reports out of Sweden earlier this month where he indicated the oilers were now willing to trade his rights.
