who's in NY? I wish I was there, I would run from the Dancevic match (starting now) to the Pospisil match (starting later). Outer court hopping is always fun!

both Dancevic and Bouchard have just won.

Dancevic gets [19] Robredo next, that's definitely doable!

Pospisil wins the first set!

Looks like Nishikori is suffering from the same ailment Raonic has been - Rose very high, very fast and hit a wall.

Also, these opening ceremonies suck! I want to watch tennis, not the always awful Lenny Kravitz!

Nishikori has absolutely no weapons. Raonic just has to harness it

Ahh, yeah, no. You don't reach #11 in the world without weapons. Whether they are good enough to get him into the top ten, and consistently stay there, is another question.

I think he's overachived and reached his peak at #12 in the world. He's breaking down already.

Milos has the tools to be #1. im biased against baseline pushers.

Pospisil is so fragile. Served for the match twice against a mug and failed

Perhaps biased for Canadians as well?

I don't watch a ton of tennis but Milos doesn't seem to have close to the tools to be number 1. Has he made to even a QF of a major or won a tournament with a half decent field yet?

Big Serve and big forehand goes a long way. I just like a big game. I like Gulbis but he's insane. I like Dmitrov but he's a bit too much in the spot light. Janowicz also has the tools to be number 1. The guy I've been raving about Daniel Evans at 23 is a great complete player with all the tools. I like Gasquet's game but he's the dumbest idiot on tour. I like Cilic and Del Potro but they are injury prone.

You say has he won a tournament with a decent field? Perhaps not but a lot of players can't win cheeseball tournament, he's won 4. His performance in majors have been disappointing, only the 4th round. But he has one Masters final now, that is a select group as well.

I just don't like defensive pushers. Simon, Monfils, Nishikori, Seppi, Monaco, Nieminen. Just awful players who need their opponents to make errors to win.

Nowhere...it's on an outer court...and it's suspended due to the rain.

Just saw Vasek limping badly with cramps on way to locker room after (fortunate) rain delay - he's up 2 sets to 1 but down 0-4 in 4th.

The rain delay came at a great time then. Gives him a chance to regroup for the inevitable fifth set.

Also, as terrible as playing a defence-first strategy may be, the New Jersey Devils would like to remind you that it often works.

Wozniacki reached #1 just by showing up to every single tournament and pushing balls. but then again, a lot of the peeps on this board don't consider WTA to be real tennis (including me sometimes)
