Default Recommend to me some sauces

I'm trying to cook more with chicken recently and I really enjoy doing it with soy sauce and teriyaki.. but was wondering if there's a sauce at T&T or somewhere else in the city that has the cadillac of Asian sauces that you normally wouldn't be exposed to at a Sobeys or coop

Make your own! Keep a supply of the following around and experiment with mixtures:

Soy Sauce
Oyster Sauce
Hoisin Sauce
Rice Vinegar
Minced ginger (Actually, the best thing is to buy whole ginger root, freeze it, and grate it frozen into sauces, stirfry, etc.)
Siracha Sauce
Sesame Oil
Coconut Oil
Honey
Minced Garlic
Peanut Butter
Five Spice Blend

You don't need to buy it all at once but if you build up a collection of these things, you can mix and match just about any 2-3 of these and have an interesting flavour with an Asian influence (especially if you start with soy sauce, sesame oil or oyster sauce as a base). Once you get comfortable with the flavours you can add a couple more layers by adding more of these or trying some different additions like pineapple or mango juice(or puree), or other things that will give you a more fusion feel like Maple syrup, although you have to be careful not to get too weird with flavors when you go in that direction. For example, I don't think worcestershire sauce goes well with any of the 'asiany' ingredients I've listed. (tried a few, just didn't care for that flavour in there)

Go easy on the Sesame Oil, a little goes a long way.

You're a brave man putting a title like that on CP......

I'll advocate using a good balsamic vinegar with chicken. It's not technically a sauce but I think it hits the flavor concept.

Cook the chicken part way (a couple of minutes), add in the balsamic and some sweet (yellow, red, and orange) peppers and you're set. Amazingly simple, super nutritious, and really really really tasty.

Can be served up with rice or pasta to make a complete meal.

Ok, here's the thing. This sweet soya sauce is actually a major key ingredient in a lot of malaysian and indonesian cooking. I have yet to find this sauce in calgary. Where did you find this?

I bought mine at the McKenzie Towne Sobeys. It's in the Ethnic isle near all of the soy sauces and Korean bbq sauces. It was like $2 for a huge bottle. One of the best sauces I've ever bought.

Season a chicken breast with paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper and chili powder.

Bake it off at 400 for 10 mins. Pull it out, slather on some Franks Buffalo Sauce...not Red Hot, BUFFALO!!

Put back in oven for another 12 mins. Cut that mother in half and slap each half on a bun with a nice garlic aioli, tomato, lettuce.
