Probably from the words on the screen.

I am not "going after" anything. I was wondering he has this approach with people coming to his door. Is it a fear thing, I always think of Sliver clutching his bear spray. Is he concerned about home invasions. Is it a lazy thing?
I found it an odd response. I asked for clarification.
Isn't that how communication works?

I just misinterpreted your original "I wonder why you have that approach" comment as insinuating something about that poster more than just a general question about his habits.
I guess I don't find a his response odd as I do the same thing in regards to people coming to my door. If I'm not expecting anyone, whoever is at the door is more than likely going to be a minor annoyance more than anything that my partially lazy ass would like to spare myself from.

No it was honestly a quesiotns about his approach to people at his door.
I will get up to see who is at the door, usually it's neighbourhood kids looking for mine to play. Sometimes it is my neighbour needing a hand. Sometimes it is a salesman. If he does not take a polite no, he gets a face full of door. Although, I can't see who is at the door without looking at the peephole, if I have gone that far, it is no biggy to open the door.
So there was no ulterior motive behind my post.

I have this approach because I do not want to be bothered by people. It is definately not out of fear. Definately not concerned about any sort of home invasion. I am just generally not interested in dealing with salesmen, peddlers or solicitors be it the "alarm guy", "direct energy" guy, or "the jesus people". If I want something from them I will call them do not come to my house and bother me during my downtime.

I hate to admit that I was once employed by an energy company to go door to door in a similar fashion while down in Australia. I'm pretty sure it was legitimate, we were working for the equivalent of Enmax, but god did it suck. I lasted about a week, but after the first day I usually just wandered off to a bar for 4 hours and then met up with the group again. I think the only thing that kept me coming back that long was a hope that a lonely housewife would invite me in for lemonade.

Ewww, watersports is gross.
I think that we should be able to put a sign up on our lawns.
We reserve the right to firmly ball kick any uninvited door to door sales men that encroach on this property. Please dial 1-800-f$$-kyou if you should have any questions.

Lol, that's awesome. I used to hope for the same thing when I was working as a courtesy clerk at coop. I always hoped one of the cougars that shopped at the store would ask me if I could help her unload them back at her place.
Came real close a couple of times actually. For whatever reason, it did happen when I got promoted to cashier. Apparently that's the postion of power the ladies were drawn to.

Can anyone tell me first hand about green energy compared to direct energy? I just found out the wife signed a five year contract with them a few weeks ago and remember reading about them on here a while ago....are they really a scam? Should I be getting her to cancel it before its too late.. not sure if it makes a difference or not but I'm in Cold Lake...

Are you talking about the company Just Energy?
Whichever company, you have a few days to cancel, maybe 10. Call them up and say you haven't had a chance to review the plans so you would like to cancel and have them send you details so you can look into it.
Don't wait, and if it ends up being a good thing (which sometimes it can be) then you can always sign up again.

Ya, it's Just Energy. They have Just Green Energy prices or something like that on the contract. The contract says by law they have to give 10 days, but they extend it by 30 days from the statement date on the first bill.. I guess I'll have to tell her to cancel it and then I'll evaluate it all ffs.. I just wish they all would be required to simplify their billing as it seems a lot more complicated than it should be..

Dude came to my door like 2 weeks ago. Since I did this job a few years ago I let the guy in, even just to humour him. Once I told him I used to do what he did- well- it was a hilarious response. He damn near left on his own and seemed twitchy.
Anyway I asked him what his fixed rates were he was peddling (after lying about why he was there, which I called him on instantly- and then reprimanded him for).
Just Energy's fixed rates, which allegedly are the best of the bunch according to the liarface at my door, are horrific on Nat gas but... average on electricity.
By horrific on gas I mean like at least 50% higher than what you'll pay. The term is 5 years. AECO futures don't exceed, or really even go near their fixed rate offer over the term of the deal. It took a 3 second google search to figure this out. The sales guy didn't seem to understand that part.... but anyways...
Don't proceed, you'll lose money. You may consider fixing the electric separately, but that too is a gamble, probably not worth the effort. The only true company to do this #### with is Enmax since they have your water, sewage, so if you roll everything through them at least they can actually reduce admin fees, etc. with one bill.
Anyway, these contracts basically blow and are way higher than what we offered years ago through Direct Energy. I also don't remember lying to people about why I was there. That's straight up bs.

The one thing I didn't mention in my post was, price wise, JustGreen Electricity will be a ton more expensive than your regular Enmax bill would be, simply because they have a comparable electric rate, a slightly higher flat monthly admin charge and then they purchase carbon credits to offset your electrical usage.
So it's expensive like something like Bullfrog would be, but its not the same thing because Bullfrog's electrical generation is solely hydro or wind. If that matters to you, it is something to consider.

Just an FYI, Enmax does not reduce your admin fees by having it all on 1 invoice. They (in my opinion) are the best company to go with but they do not save you admin fees by combining services

It's been a while since I moved my natural gas onto Enmax from Direct Energy, however at that point there was about a $5 difference in total admin fees charged.

A couple of weeks ago they caught me on a bad day. I normally am polite and listen to their spiel and then say no thanks, and then say no thanks again, then again and again and then again one more time and then they are gone.
Not the last time. I was tired and grumpy and home for lunch and the doorbell rang. I opened the door and he said "Hi There", at that moment I saw the logo on his shirt and before he could say anything else I said "NO!" and slammed the door shut. It felt good to do that at the time, but later on I felt bad for being such a jerk. I'll probably do it again if the next time somebody comes to my door and I say "No Thanks" and they try to keep selling something to me, then I feel like I have a right to be rude.

My dad told one of these salesman to f off once. He didn't smell a scam. He's just an old crank.
