Another reason Hangouts suck? Because not everyone use it, you can't really tell whether or not someone has read your message. Lots of people still use Google Talk within Gmail, and if you use your Hangouts app to chat with them, it doesn't show up that they've read your message until after they actually REPLY to it.

Seriously Google? I know Facebook Messenger isn't the greatest i the world either, but at least it correctly shows 'sent' and 'seen.'

The company I work for uses gmail for it's email and server (drive) storage (docs, etc).

So when I'm on the road, and need to quickly chat with one of our CSRs, I just use the HangOuts app.

I'm pretty happy with how it works, for that reason. Other than work, I don't use it personally.

Android insists on nothing

Seriously though, SwiftKey is the best keyboard for Android imo. That said, no keyboard will make your thumb go to where the spacebar is

Smart ass.. hah. I have had SwiftKey for a while, I switched to the ICS stock one due to preference.

Where the period is on the Swift, it would be nice to be more spacebar realty and then have double tap as period still. That is specifically what I cannot find.

One app had the right lay out, but no spellcheck fix. So that got messy in a hurry.

Is there a way to receive iMessages on my android? A google search reveals a website that says they have an app but it seems a bit suspect...

For those interested, Minuum Keyboard is now a public beta, although the app in the Google Play store is $3.99...for a beta. Not a fan of that. I wrote them and asked for even a single day trial so those who weren't sure, could at least check the app out first.

Anyway...it's supposed to be quite impressive.

Went about 'alternative' means to try it out and I'm glad I did. While it is pretty impressive majority of the time of how well it can take my pudgy fingers mashing against a small area and give me exactly what I want. The swiping features are an innovative way of getting to certain things like deleting and the space bar, though I'm still frequently trying to consciously remember which way I should go. End marks like question marks and such take a little moment and accuracy to get to. It took a little while to learn and does get frustrating to force yourself to get used to this style of keyboard.

Which brings me to my main concern. If at best, I can periodically type as fast as I do on Swiftkey with a couple more mistakes on Minuum, why would I bother switching in the first place?
Granted, having a Note 2 means I have more real estate to sacrifice for a keyboard which makes the benefits of Minuum a little less important and my general typing style (often using emoticons, certain words like 'dunno' and the occasional short typing words like freaking 'lol') makes for a painful switch.

Will try a bit more but considering how comfortable I am with Swiftkey in both one handed and two handed use, it'll take a lot for Minuum to convince me otherwise.

I tried Minuum myself through alternative means. Not a fan at all. Phones and screens are getting bigger, yet this keyboard is designed to be so small. I currently use Swiftkey myself and have the keys set to large. Works great.

Found myself making way to many mistakes with Minuum and being frustrated to know which direction to go and even more frustrated to get the word it chose deleted and get the right word in there. By the time I typed a couple sentences, I would have two paragraphs using Swiftkey Flow.

Anyone have a suggestion for a good expense manager or tracker app? I see several choices on Play, but I don't know which one to pick.

Something that would allow me to quickly enter info and look back and see how much I have spent or not. Even export it to excel or something. Even keep track of the promos I have setup for my customers.

Suggestions?

I'd find it hard to move away from Swiftkey, and if anyone else isn't on board with it yet it's at a 50% sale currently.

Yeah, Swiftkey is pretty awesome. Kii is good as well, but back using Swiftkey. Doubt I'll ever change. It just works.

I would use Swiftkey if you could change the key sizes. With Kii I can, and the prediction is almost as good.

I like swiftkey, but hate that I get smiley faces instead of an enter key when texting. I never even use the smileys!

I've adapted to the onboard android key board. Seems to work well for me. They've integrated some swift key features into it.

You can change that in the settings somewhere IIRC.

Only thing I'm shocked/surprised about is the lack of Japanese support. Only reason why I still have Swype.

The key size can be changed, at least the height.. Settings > Theme & Layout > Key Height (at bottom of list)

Yup, not as functional as Kii, but I set mine to Large and it works pretty well for my fat fingers.

Every budget/expense tracker app I've downloaded pales in comparison to just setting up a Mint.com profile and grabbing the app.
