From what I understand, that man with the camera asked the lady with the two dogs if she would leash them while on the path. When she refused he pulled out his phone to video asking her again. That's when she dropped "go back to China where you belong" and a couple more remarks.
If you're walking your dogs on the path system I thought they had to be leashed. Either way, now that this has hit YouTube, she's going to catch a world of ridicule for what she said.
Hopefully he catches a bit too for filming vertically.
Yeah the following the lady around with a camera business is dumb. I probably would have said something rude to the guy (not of the same nature as that lady however)
With that said, what she said really bothers me. I used to hear that phrase (Go back to where you came from) said to me all the time and I thought we had gotten past that. This brings back a lot of bad memories and it's sad to see that it hasn't gone away completely.
I've had a conversation or two with dog owners who don't leash their dogs on the walking paths in our neighborhood and they are usually quick to get the leash back on. I always try to be nice and gently remind them that there are little kids around. I think some people don't think the rules should apply to their dog because they are the bestest dog in the whole world and they just love kids. That may be but I don't know your dog so I'm not going to want it running up to my toddler in he park.
I've stopped asking people to leash their dogs because this is a very typical reaction (the hostility; as a white guy I haven't had to deal with the racism). Thankfully I've found more people in Fish Creek leash their dogs than not, although I did have to maneuver around an unleashed dog when I was riding my bike yesterday.

It reminded me of the time when I was coming back from the Stampede on the train and some old lady and her husband kept trying to budge through everyone after I had waited like 3 trains to get to the front of a line. I asked her to go back to the back of the crowd as they had just got there and pushed and shoved their way to the front.
In a British accent she's like "go back to your country", I was like "this is my country bitch, I was born and raised here".
Her husband looked embarrassed but probably because they usually keep their racism between themselves.

I love dogs, but I think people need to leash them when on a path. Years ago I was roller blading on a path when someone's unleashed dog, a very friendly golden retriever, ran in front of me and caused a collision. I ended up hurting my wrist.
So yeah, leash the dog.
Also, that lady is hilariously redneck stereotyped. I'm hoping she's got kids named Cletus and Jeb

I know exactly how you feel. It really bothers me when little kids come running up to me. I don't know them, or where they've been, and it makes me uncomfortable. But when I suggest leashing them, people get really offended.
I must be doing it wrong.

very nice.....that woman may be related to pat from SNL.
for the record, the pathways are not off leash parks. I love biking down the path and then having rover chase me. I usually don't bother stopping because i figure it is up to the owner to come get thier dog.......
