If I could make a suggestion, I think that having a full NHL roster would include having an extra forward and an extra defenseman. This would allow for the selection of more nostalgic picks without having to use a roster spot... not so much an issue for now but in the later rounds... it could be the enforcer spot or the wildcard pick.

Well that's interesting. I will select with great joy, Scott Neidermeyer. How he fell so far is kind of amazing.

Yeah it was the guy I was at least talking about. When I realized he hadn't been taken yet three picks ago I was genuinely surprised.

Hehe, no, my picks keep getting taken right before me... I got Neids in the last draft and I wanted him again... I think this time, I'll go with a player that was the Best Forward in the Game before Sid started his reign...
C Pavel Datsyuk

Seems we may have just inadvertently completed an all time fantasy trade as I had Datsyuk last time.

No the guy I was referring to was the guy I think is the actual best forward in the NHL prior to Sid joining the game. We all should know who that is/was. At least for a 2-3 year period I believe he was the best forward in the game.
Although I did consider Niedermayer for my last pick; surprised to see how many people feel Nieds is overrated though.

There was a window between your guy and Sid, IMO, that was filled by Datsyuk. Sid wasn't the best player in hockey immediately upon entering.

I would agree with that, although Datsyuk has never been among the elite forwards per say, as his offensive numbers have never been all that great. Best all-around player sounds more like it; whereas I think Ovechkin and Crosby have been better forwards pretty much since the day they entered the league.
Edit: Oh and apparently Datsyuk picks mushrooms in the off-season. lol

I'm unclear as to your semantics... "Best All-round" pretty we'll sums it up, yes.

I figure that I will boost my offensive potential in this round and select Kharlamov and Makarov. There were some other players that I was thinking about targetting but this gives me a really good offensive core that I can work around.
Hull - XXXXXX - Makarov
Kharlamov - XXXXX - XXXXX
