It's been 6 months since this thread was created... is there any more info about this "rumour" or has it simply become speculation and what a 3rd jersey should look like?

LOVE those. Almost perfect. A little messing around with the third jersey and it would be a home run personally. Something off about the white horse head.

Honestly, I'd like to hear some Flames player input on this. Only twice in the past have I heard it directly mentioned by players before (Conroy & Backlund), and both weren't shy in saying they preferred the retros. If polled in the dressing room, I have a feeling that would be an ongoing theme. That should tell you something.

I haven't read through all 25 pages of this thread. But i just purchased a retro jersey for $34.00 at Sport Chek. Safe to assume we are not using them anymore!

What would it tell you? That some players like the retros?

I don't think player preference should hold much sway here. They should be aiming for aesthetically pleasing jerseys that appeal to buyers, that's the whole point of these.

Yes, it's actually been the entire basis for the last 4 or 5 pages worth of discussion.

It takes almost a calender year from final design to league approval for release in the fall. Unless the Flames were working on it last year, almost seems that these have been fast tracked, they may well be the ones that King had second thoughts about releasing and then didn't have to go through some of those steps. It had a new secondary logo, and I think he pulled them because thought it was too many jerseys (knowing that the retros were coming back)
Went back and scanned through every page in this thread and found it on page 3, should have started at the beginning lol. Anyways, I love this design. I want to say there was another version with the grey being black with silver outlining, but I might be wrong in that. Love this design though, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I understand that. I guess what I was getting at, is that I trust the opinion of hockey players within the organization in terms of what jerseys look better, over some focus group who could be detached from the team/its history/fans/the NHL itself, and just pick something random because they think it looks cool. Like replacing an iconic logo with a flaming horse head.

Well when a final design is made public the resulting debate is going to be awesome.

^ Wasn't he white in the end?

As I've stated before, I've always enjoyed a jersey with more black as it it makes the jersey look more sleek and modern. Plus the red shows as darker...

All the orange, yellow and red are a bit much to the eye. I loved the retro jerseys. Hell, I just bought one of them for $35! But the colour becomes a little much after a while. Almost too much colour.

Copy the new BC Lions' jerseys but obviously replace the orange with red. Those things looked cool!

Pass. Way too much like the horrible "black ice" jerseys from a few years ago and not enough... colour. While I don't mind black on our jerseys, it should have something else other than black and slightly darker black.

We can't have "The C of Red" and have black jerseys

Fail. You're supposed highlight or bold the part you changed.

Anyway, how does the 2004 jersey look "90s"?

I'm just saying, add some black in. Don't make the whole thing black. The current home jersey and 2004 are examples of this.

If the Flames do go for new jerseys, they won't be the only ones. The Sharks just released new ones today:

And Minnesota is debuting new away jerseys on September 1:

Those are pretty decent, slight changes and a bit of a nod to the expansion era.

I don't link the bottom of the shirts though, seems unfinished.
