What a bizare comparison. Different city, different team, different era with political intrigue and our way of life vs there's.. you can't possibly be serious?

How about just compare the atmosphere at the dome last few years ... games involving MTL TOR WPG EDM VAN vs all other games. The Dome was a library for games vs Detroit, Minnesota, Florida, Philly, you name it. Bring in some opposing fans and the crowd got into it.

I understand the point you are trying to make, but there are instances where there are simply too many opposing fans in the Saddledome. Especially when the Flames are most likely going to struggle these next couple of years. The 7-2 home loss to the Oilers this past season comes to mind. That atmosphere sucked!

It was fun while the shoe was on the other foot though. And for a long time. Leaving rectal place and driving home to Calgary after a Flames beat down on the grease is almost as good as a home playoff win imo. Well. Maybe not almost.

They contact me all the time to buy tickets, and I only ever went to one game there.
In fairness, I've gotten three emails about buying tickets from the Blackhawks since I went to a game in May.

I think the NHL should look at what they do in the Premier League. The home team usually reserves a section in its stadium and sells the seats to the visiting team. Fans then buy the tickets through their teams site. It keeps the fans in one section so they can cheer together and is less annoying for the home team fans.

Obviously this wouldn't be needed for the majority of games in the NHL because of distance but for BOA's etc. I think it would be good to try.

I get emails and phone calls for tickets from the orlando magic, miami marlins, tampa rays, tampa lightning, miami dolphins all asking me to buy tickets all the time. I think all american sports teams track your purchases and try to get you to come back.
