Default Calgary cops on the lookout for Stolen Fire Truck

Quote:
Somewhere in Calgary’s northeast, late Friday night, someone was out joyriding in a stolen fire truck.

Police said they received a call about 11 p.m. to report someone skulking outside the fire station at 1991 18 Ave. N.E.

Ellefson said aside from a possible sighting in the community of Abbeydale, nobody has actually traced the vehicle’s location as of press time.

He said he would think a person with a stolen marked vehicle would want to get off the street — fast.

Police were on the hunt with units on the roads and a helicopter in the air

You would think that all the Calgary police and fire vehicles would be installed with some sort of GPS tracking (LoJack) type of technology.

Wow...this has to be a first.

Yeah if it took me 30 seconds to find my iPhone which is worth $200 it's hard to imagine why a truck worth a couple hundred thousand wouldn't be installed with GPS.

That's what they get for leaving their vehicles idling 99% of the time.

Never would I imagine this sort of thing happening outside the video game Grand Theft Auto.

Union complaints about tracking and oversight?

It's probably already on a boat to some foreign country.

Apparently it's one of the Bush buggys, taken from a maintainence yard not a full blown fire truck.

They stole a pickup truck from the yard.

Hey fellow CP'rs a friend of mine is selling a gently used fire truck, shoot me a pm if interested and I'll put you in contact with him.

I'm sure this is what we all imagined when we read "stolen fire truck"...

Oh god, that's like the height of media looking for page hits right there. Stolen fire pick up truck!

It was probably stolen because it's a Ford F-250, one of the most stolen vehicles, not because it's a fire truck.

They're correct to an extent. Now if they stole a fire engine that would be something
