And the Rays are down 5-0 in the 8th now... They're only two games behind the Sox, and with 4 games at hand, seems like it'll come down to the wire.

Wow! As much as Pete Rose's comment are more then likely politically correct, they are despicable. I also think he killed whatever chance he had being reinstated by MLB.

However, if I am given a second chance, I won’t need a third chance. And to be honest with you, I picked the wrong vice. I should have picked alcohol. I should have picked drugs or I should have picked up beating up my wife or girlfriend because if you do those three, you get a second chance. They haven’t given too many gamblers a second chances in the world of baseball,” Rose said.

He has apologized for the comments:
Quote:

“If I’ve learned anything over the past 24 years since my banishment from baseball, it’s to own up to my failures right away. I was feeling sorry for myself when I compared my vice to others, including abuse and drinking. Of course, all vices are not to be excused. I know gambling almost destroyed baseball and I have accepted the way Commissioners Giamatti, Vincent and Selig acted toward me.”

Alfonso Soriano has 4 homers and 13 RBI in this last two games. Not too shabby.

I posted this in the Blue Jays thread because I spend more time in there but thought that I should include it here as well.
Major news being reported about all inclusive replay in baseball next year and if I read it right that the decisions will be made like in hockey by a group not even in the ball park. This is a huge positive step to get things right in baseball when it is obvious the umpires cant/ refuse to make the right calls.

Baseball, using its central MLBAM offices in New York, will be provided with replay cameras that will be monitored by men with umpiring experience. They will make the final call on disputed plays, not the crew chief.

Kolten Wong got called up by the Cards yesterday as well - a guy I am really hoping the Jays target via trade. With Carpenter playing so well at 2b, it looked like Wong was blocked to the MLB. However, looks like they might shift Carpenter to 3b, and Freese becomes a bench player.
Still love Freese for that walk off against Texas in the World Series - that has to be one of the greatest games I have ever watched. Even my fiance, who hates baseball on TV, couldn't leave the couch.

The son of longtime Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy was arrested on a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend, hours after he was released from custody in an assault case against her.
Jared Remy was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in the death of Jennifer Martel, 27, at a Waltham apartment complex Thursday night, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said.
Jerry Remy is a former Red Sox second baseman who has been a color analyst on team broadcasts on the New England Sports Network since 1988. He has struggled with health problems in recent years.
Jared Remy is a former Red Sox security staffer who was fired by the team in 2008 during a steroid investigation.

What would be his motivation for doing this? Only reason I can come up with his to deflect attention away from his scumbag ass and put it all on Braun. He is so screwed if he his found guilty of these violations, its a violation of the CBA's confidentiality clause, as well as an instance of interfering with baseball's investigation

"60 Minutes" has learned that members of New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez's inner circle in February obtained and leaked documents that implicated Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun as well as his own Yankees teammate, catcher Francisco Cervelli, in the doping scandal that has enveloped Major League Baseball.
The leak came just days after the weekly newspaper Miami New Times published documents in January detailing Rodriguez's pervasive use of performance enhancing drugs.
The handwritten documents of Anthony Bosch, the key witness in Major League Baseball's PED investigation, revealed comprehensive doping regimens that Bosch had engineered for a host of professional athletes. His cooperation with MLB has resulted in the suspension of Rodriguez and 13 other major league players.
Braun and Cervelli's names were redacted in the Miami New Times documents. Members of Rodriguez's camp at the time obtained unredacted versions and leaked them to Yahoo! Sports, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the matter. The unredacted documents also implicated Baltimore Oriole Danny Valencia, who MLB later investigated and cleared.
In a statement to "60 Minutes," Rodriguez lawyer David Cornwell said, "The allegations are untrue and are another attempt to harm Alex -- this time by driving a wedge between Alex and other players in the game. While Alex focuses on baseball and repeatedly states that he is going to respect the appeal process, the drumbeat of false allegations continues."

I am the farthest thing from an Arod apologist, but i would suggest its just as likely that IF this occurred as stated, that those who leaked the names and papers to Yahoo, were doing so of their own volition. There is a LOT of money at stake for Arod AND those around him and that kind of greed can make many a person do things without consent, especially if they will never likely be found out.
Look no further for an example than Bonds trainer who was willing to stay in prison rather than come clean and testify.

Not only A-Rod is a cheater, he is also a RAT!! I don't feel sorry for this guy at all. He made so much money while he was cheating and I hope they don't let him play again. MLB and any other sports should get rid of all cheaters.
