The new goal song is being unveiled against the Canucks on Oct 6th? Can we please just troll Canuck fans and play the chorus from Three Days Grace - Riot?

Perceived 'Gayness'? Not like, you're a homosexual because you listen to fall out boy, but more, you MIGHT be a homosexual because you listen to fallout boy.
I liken it to how Green Day went from popular to "Green Day Sucks" around 1995-1996.

Those that don't want Light Em Up just because of the band itself really need to grow up. We're picking the song for how well it works after goals are scored, not because who made it. If Nickleback for example had a chorus or rift that works better than the rest, then we should use their work.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally dislike the FOB song because I think it makes for a crappy goal song, it has nothing to do with my feelings for the band itself and I would guess many other posters feel the same. Just because some of you think it works great doesn't mean there aren't many others who disagree and don't think it would be a good choice. FOB is far from one of my favourite bands, but if I thought one of their songs would work as the goal song I'd have no issue with it.
Edit: With regards to my preference, I would probably go with the Monster Truck song, though I do agree with the poster above who mentioned that it is a rather generic goal song. I think the RATM song would work, but it isn't my favourite. I actually think Surfin Bird would be pretty awesome - listening to that song and imagining a goal celebration and fans going wild all at the same time had me laughing for about 10 minutes and I imagine it would have opposing fans crying (or at least pulling their hair out) in less time then that. With that said I still don't think we've found the perfect song, unfortunately I have no suggestions as to what it might be.

Hey! What's wrong with Nickleback?
Ok, so because you believe, "it works well" after goals are scored thats how the goal song should be picked?
I think the song and the band are bad. Why do I need to "grow up"? Because I don't like what you like?

Oilers suck.
What about having different songs, one for each goal of the game. Every 1st goal is one, every 2nd goal is another, etc.. Would be cool because some songs would only get played in a crazy game.
7 could totally be Surfin Bird.

I think that would be pretty interesting actually. And hey, we might get to hear Surfin Bird once this year...maybe?

That could work! As long as they make Fall Out Boy, Light Em Up number 11.

I think he's pretty clear, it's not because you like something different, he's specifically targeting people that say "Don't pick song X because it's from band Y."
Who made the song shouldn't matter is what he's saying (and I agree), if the song fits then wear it.
If one doesn't like the song then that's fine, don't like it.
Those that flip out if a song gets picked that they don't like can grow up too

Good luck.
The league seems to be moving in an ever smaller degree of song licensing so that now the majority of songs heard in an NHL arena will be heard in every other NHL arena.
Blandification of arena's, one licensing agreement at the time.
Getting tired of the 13 songs in the EA's NHL game? Tough ####, you're going to hear them for the next 7 months during every.single.televised.game.

Is that for licensing, or is that just because everyone picks the most popular songs?
I guess I have no idea how much it would cost to license a song to be a goal song.

Oh man, those are always brutal. Please tell me you knew you could import your own music into the game.

I think it's definitely for licensing.
Pay the licensing fee for say, 30 - 50 songs, use them in all your related media exposures (EA Sports games, Arena Music, highlight packages, NHL Awards ceremony etc.) and operate on a cheaper overhead than individually licensing specific tracks from arenas that you may not be able to use in re-broadcast.
It streamlines their media and law departments in a big way.
I do not know the specifics of course, but, were I in charge with the pressure on, that's how I'd run things.
Every year, I think since the lockout, the majority of tracks played in an American Arena have come from the EA NHL playlist. Obviously EA is not dictating the music to the NHL.
Anyone else get the feeling that the best song may be one we haven't even heard yet. My protest, ironically, would go against the RATM and FOB voters for that very reason. Heck, I used to mosh to RATM at the OLD Rebublik as much as it pains me to say, that was a LONG time ago.....Enough RATM/SUTTER anything old. This is a new generation of Flames and the music should be as new as possible.
Why not find a collaborative approach with the new players and get ahold of their most added to playlist songs and then sample them to pick the song. This shouldn't turn into a Taylor Hall having Justin Bieber on his ipod scenario as I trust the new guys that are being brought in to have better taste than that. This thread needs a Dion changing the music moment and maybe there is a way to sneak some of the players favorites into this thread. Something from this generation. Not the middle aged/convertible guy at Macs store with the windows down and cranking out RATM because the last time he knew good music they were it.
The song doesn't have to be permanent as music has such a short shelf life change it up as needed. Get on Twitter and get some of the songs players are actually working out to. Higher waiting from fans for first round picks etc. If they change the goal song from a 2-3 year old song to a 10-20 year old song that is going in the wrong direction imo. Wake me up when September ends.
